  • its okay to fast and lost some body fat becasue you still have alot of body fat,

  • You never mentioned what your diet was coming off of the fast which is very important. Fasting has worked wonders on the way I feel and overall health. Fasting and working out is 1 great secret I am surprised many people are too blind to see. Main stream media which is owned by the same people who own Big Pharma makes money of peoples medical conditions and tries to debunk simple effective cures.

  • I fast 2 days ina row from 10pm to 6pm then I have a day slightly above metabolic rate in cals and do full body weight training with little rest between sets on that day. Ive done this for a year now and lost 78 lbs and went from 30% bf to 11% with great muscle mass. Every 3 to 4 months I do simple diet for a month just below my BMR in cals and get rid of the fasting just to reset my matabolism. then I start all over again. Works like a charm. I love fasting because I'm never hungry

  • I have many times gone trough fasting the whole day, and eating 12 hours after waking up. A big meal of course, eated everything untill satisfied.

And then the next day upon waking up. Breakfast only consists some fruits like a orange, banana and cucumber etc. Then in my first workout later that day, I allready make personal strength records. 275 lbs squat x6 reps.

The idea of muscle loss is very very overrated. People are just paranoid, and need to try fasting for themselves.

  • But will you gain it?

  • i eat every 3 hours to boost my metabolism. I never skip meals. I think you do lose muscle. But maybe not if you drink lots of water and if its a short time span.

  • hatin dumbasses. He wanted to share all he knew. His motives are simply to help others as much as possible and gather information to help himself. I have to agree that this person has little knowledge, albeit it seems quite ironic to me that it is one of the first results of typing in "fasting and fat loss."

  • I'm a fairly advanced yet amateur weight trainer, and whilst I was scared of 'dieting' due to supposed muscle loss, I have been quite extreme with my calorie restriction (fasting) and have not seen any loss of lean mass. I've gone from about 14-9% bodyfat.

  • Lmao!! What kind if fast is 3hr-1dat fast hahaha!!?!?! A fast is 3-40 days man.

  • I don't understand why everyone is hating on this guy. WTF if you don't know the answer, stfu as easy as that. He asked a question for gods sake.

  • You idiot, damn ass Indian/Pakistani shit. You are posting this video to advertise your fucking worthless web-site.. I opened it and closed it within 10 seconds. I can tell you are here to make money the easy way, but hey fucker, don't play with people s' health. Full of shit.. :) now go jerk off

  • @zaferhatt

cos of ppl like u we have problem in this world what da heck are u talking about he asked question that's it be wise don't be a foo Ok.

  • Damn I've been working and studying non-stop for the past three days and have have hardly anything. All I've had since Sunday has been a slice of pizza, a hot pocket, some peanuts, some crackers. Nothing else is coming to mind. I'm starving! I'm gonna get some food now I just hope I haven't lost muscle.

  • my answer is : fuck you and i think u suck and absolutely no knowledge

  • dude.... if your going to bash on someone.... at least use proper grammar.

have fun cursing at this post. lol ignorance is so predictable

  • No!! The body gives up fat cells first as they have seven times the amount of energy stored in one pound. In fact German scientists claim that even a 20 day fast will not cause muscle loss.

Eating too much speeds up the aging process as one has to be constantly digesting foods and making the vital organs work. Also more T cell damage takes place with too much eating.

  • Twenty day fast won't cause muscle loss? hahahaha If you don't eat for twenty days not only will you lose muscle, you will also die.

  • @dunn5102 takes at least a month to die actually from no food. Can go up to 60 days depending on how nourished you were before starting the fast. Id say that 4 days is optimal. But ur right that 20 days will probably take muscle mass. The body first uses up sugar from the blood, then moves in on protein(NOT EXACTLY FROM MUSCLE) Once this source is depleted, it moves in on fat, which breaks down into keytone. Then it moves to muscle, then vital organs in starvation mode. Thats when u die

  • @Cyborgfromhell very uplifting image.... thank you... lol... but i guess the truth aint always pretty

  • so if it works for you. why would you say it is detramental?Fasting works and it reprograms your body and helps you lose weight and unwated water weight as well as toxins. Lots of emotional stuff too! It gets easier as you go and yes, you will definitely lose weight! DON'T DIE, FAST!!!

  • increased im guessing this is an indicator that the body had started to use lipids as energy. at the 24hr mark the protein level in muscles had dropped but was still slightly higher than before the fast. not one of the studies i found said that short term fasting decreased metabolism, also not one said that it causded muscle loss. i read 10 studies i think. but keep in mind as a general rule for every study out there that says one thing there is another to disagree, how ever i wasn able to find1

  • hey, i have been doing a short 24 hr once a week for around 4 weeks now. it doesnt appear that i have suffered any muscle loss, in fact i found a few studies which all said short term fasting decreases the amount of free radicals in your body increases GH and does not slow your metabolism. keep in mind we are talking about short term fasting here. one of the studies also showed muscle biopsies protein and lipid content in blood. after 12 hrs muscel protein had increased and lipid level in blood

  • Fasting contrary to what the media says will not make you lose muscle. This only happens over a period of weeks the body actually protects heart muscle from wasting!.The human body was never made to consume regular meals!that's why we store fat easily.detoxing is rubbish the body is always being cleaned by the liver and kidneys!

FASTING IS GOOD FOR THE BODY in that it returns the body to a neutral metabolic state.(not clogged up)try eating good every other day and see how fit you will be!

  • aside from the detox for your brain and body, you will be able to breathe significantly easier. so if you practice yoga, qigong, or meditation, fasting makes these practices much more effective, especially qigong or meditation. I usually try not to exercise too much when I fast. not sure if physiologically it is a bad idea but something about working myself really hard without food for energy doesntseem right.not sure about this or the muscle issue though. but fasting does have definite benefits

  • there a tons of benefits to fasting, physical and spiritual. tpyically a person is "fasting" about 12 hours after the last meal when glucose is generally no longer being used. if sustained deprivation of glucose occurs the body kicks in its starvation response which basically turns to fat deposits for energy, turning them into ketones which are an extremely efficient source of energy. because you turn to fats for energy, you not only lose weight but you get rid of toxins stored in the fat.....

  • so before you start making ketones you may have extremely low energy around the 12 hour mark. if you stick it through youll find all of a sudden you'll get a phenomenal feeling of lightness and energy. something to keep in mind, however, is eventually your body does turn to muscles for energy. i am not positive when this happens as opposed to using fats (i am in no way a biologist) so i could see this being a problem for your muscles. this is something i am still trying to figure out as well...

  • y do u fast i think its a rite lode of ballsack

  • yu racist bastard

  • yu stupid man did i fukin say that to you.... open ur spekky4 eyes then read the message... inogorant man

  • u fucking dirty ss

  • The kind of fast recommended by Brad Pilon in "Eat Stop Eat" should not cause any muscle loss provided that your calorie intake is normal when you are not fasting. I don't actually count calories myself, but if your weight loss is on target then your calories are too. Personally, I'm doing the 16 hour daily fast recommended by the body-building blogger Martin Berkhan and the results so far have been awesome.

  • Hey guy...

As far as the research is concerned, Pilon's Eat Stop Eat is actually his master's thesis... lol.

In other words, it had to pass peer review so that he could get his degree :)

For me, the eating 6 meals per day is a tougher way to go... as I stay hungrier throughout the day for some reason.

Also, because of the growth hormone surge as you approach your 24th hour... it is possible to gain strength... or at least I haven't stopped gaining strength yet.

    Plus, it's easy (a plus)

  • Well, walking is not really a good idea of getting loosing because i usually walk alot going to school and places and it didnt really help. it`s base on experience ok? so heres the question, If there are any methods of loosing leg muscles? and is it possible?

  • why would anyone want to lose leg muscle

  • Cuz I'm a female and have too large cabs, the muscle is too hard and bulky like a man's leg

  • I suggest looking into Smart-lipo by a physician, but "spot reducing" is a myth and once you are at a good weight, there are "pockets" of fat that won't come off. So many of the "fitness people" in ads have had "body work." See here on YouTube the before and after pictures. They are amazing.

  • Thanks Brian. Good to see the boot camp video with you and Sean. What I'm curious about is when does the "starvation mode" kick in - I don't think it really kicks in after just 12 or 24 hours, but I am still learning ...

  • Hey Buddy! OK, so in MY OPINION (which is as a Weight Watchers leader), we already know that NOTHING blasts the metabolism into hyperdrive like GOOD CLEAN eating, and eating sufficient calories from healthy food sources. I will research this, but if I am not mistaken, long term independent studies support that people who periodically fasted not only had a tougher time losing weight, but a higher rate of regain, than those eating optimal clean calories for health. I'll find out! :) - - Mike

  • Thanks Mike. Any research or articles that you can link me to, or send me by email, would be awesome. Hope you are feeling better today!

  • @MikesBodyForLife - Hello, it's been a long time "about 3 years since you posted this" but I was wondering how your' research went. What did you find out about intermittent fasting? I'm wanting to lose bodyfat and gain muscle ideally at the same time. I've read eat stop eat but because it's so different from what everyone's practicing and pushing - I just don't know what to think anymore.

  • id be inclined to say yes! But i dont really know!

Brians point above ^ has a good point.
