If you look at a 7.62x39mm round (AK-47 round) the cartridge is sorta flared towards the primer end. Its not like a NATO 5.56x45mm where the brass cartridge is straight across untill the bullet is met. Thats why they have to curve the magazine.

You are ignorant. US akm variants are VERY well made. They are usually forged receivers. Akm variants made anywhere else ARE STAMPED receivers. Forged receivers ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN STAMPED. Izmash rifles are pretty well made but it will never beat a fully US made akm rifle in fit,finish, and accuracy.
Actually the AKM is stamped. If its on a milled receiver its not an AKM. US made receivers are rarely as good as Izmash ones.
And its debatable whether forged receivers are actually more durable than stamped ones. The Soviet manuals state the stamped ones last longer in terms of rounds fired. Some argue for the stamped, some argue for the milled, but the truth is you probably won't ever encounter a problem with either. AK47 fires from an "open bolt" position so there is less precision in bullet/barrell alignment than a "closed bolt" action such as on the M-16. Nevertheless, this level of precision is not required for the vast majority of field conditions.

What is all this "made in Russia" stuff? True the AK was invented in Russia, but AK variants come from many countries: Romania is probably the most well known, as well as Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Etc. If you count "assembly" as making, then yes, some are U.S. made, although all US made AK's come from Kits that are disassembled rifles from other countries. Armory USA in Texas is probably the best known US producer of AK variants.

Might want to use a Kobra or other Russian side-mount scope or optic instead of somehting attached to the top cover. The cover moves too much and won't keep zero for shit.
Check out the Kobra sight, usually about $170, if you haven't already. Real quick and handy, and solid. Mounts to the side of the reciever on that rail there.

AK47 fires from an "open bolt" position so there is less precision in bullet/barrell alignment than a "closed bolt" action such as on the M-16. Nevertheless, this level of precision is not required for the vast majority of field conditions.

They are, it's upsetting. These people never even held a real rifle before. The entire civilized world has turned its back on the AK series because it is impractical and inaccurate. Even Russia turned its back from it, and the AN-94 weapons system won out the AK-74M but yet they can't afford to replace it.

AK47 is dependable and reliable. That's it. Great battle weapon. MP5 is and will be the Counter-Terrosist weapon of choice due to its reliability, accuracy, versatility, and short range control. P90 would make a great weapon as well, but unfortunately the ease of manufacturing it is nowhere near the MP5's. I've fired the AK47, AKM, AK74, and the new AK-101, and Sgt. Kalashnikov's creation has come A LONG WAY.

What is all this "made in Russia" stuff? True the AK was invented in Russia, but AK variants come from many countries: Romania is probably the most well known, as well as Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Etc. If you count "assembly" as making, then yes, some are U.S. made, although all US made AK's come from Kits that are disassembled rifles from other countries. Armory USA in Texas is probably the best known US producer of AK variants.

Semi automatic or Automatic don't change the rifles accuracy you numb nuts, all it does is give you a bigger grouping. The way the AK was designed, it will NEVER be accurate outside of your counter strike and rainbow six games.

Automatic fire may not affect the mechanical accuracy of the rifle, but it affects your ability to control that accuracy.
True, an average AK is not going to shoot sub MOA but it's hard NOT to hit a torso target, and that's effective enough for me.
Also, the AK is "impractical"? It's light, compact, and I know it will work whether it's wet, caked with sand, or hot enough to melt the foregrip off.

Pity about the looseness of the sight. A buddy of mine has a Romanian AK w/ a intregal side mount. He uses a Russian Collimator sight called a Cobra. Check out "Club Lead Chris" in the search box and see ME in action with a Bushmaster M4, Glock 17 and that Romanian AK!

Russian made good weapons. Not the most precise ones true, but they worked in rain, in -20 degrees and even if they are dirty, hard to make them overheated, and if they have problems, just throw on ground and they working again.
Other good side is it doesn't need too much experience to use. And they are relatively cheap

why the fuck would you need an aimpoint on an AK? they have the worst accuracy, you cant hit a damn thing with them, and the aimpoint obviously isnt helping. ever wonder why the terrorists are always losing wars? now you know. MP5A5, now theres a weapon, retractable stock, rounds that wont blow your head off,light,compact,the list goes on. its why a lot of police and special forces use it as their primary firearm, e.g. British SAS, S.W.A.T, F.B.I, British S.B.S and a whole bunch of others.

Might want to use a Kobra or other Russian side-mount scope or optic instead of somehting attached to the top cover. The cover moves too much and won't keep zero for shit.
Check out the Kobra sight, usually about $170, if you haven't already. Real quick and handy, and solid. Mounts to the side of the reciever on that rail there.
