I have the same exact car, except mine is this sickly sort of brown-green dead dinosaur color. Oh, and on one side it says "Biscayne" (which must be really rare b/c I can't find any COPOs with that option). On the other side, instead of saying Biscayne, there's this big, gaping, rusty hole. Oh, and how is this for rare? My car has a typo!!!! Where it's supposed to say 427, it actually says 327. Taking offers on mine, too. Serious inquiries, ONLY.
I have the same car exept the car I have is one colour blue no stickers or nothing saing 427. My car has no center concol or radio just a hust 4spd and black seats ex. My camaro sat at my grandmother from 1973 and is still parked in the same garage. Can some one tell me what I can do to find out what number the car is? Also if sonbody would like to talk about my Canadian copo pm me you number
I was born in 57 had many muscle cars. I own three rare muscle cars now, fully restored 455, 350, 400 G.M. cars and I drive all whenever I can. This car belonged to a buddy of mine at one time. I want to kick his ass when ever I see him and think of this car at the same time. They were made to drive hard, now a days it just passes from one hand to another every few years. It was under rated "big time" may have about 600 (gross) or just a little more H.P.
Because I was ALIVE then... I have owned a 67 RS, 68 and 69 Camaro. I raced all three of these plus we owned and raced 2 66 chevelles and a 67 chevelle. I grew up around these cars. I was born in 58. You know it's actaully technically impossible to have an ss z28 because the only difference was the engines. One was a 350 and the other was a 302...so what, you have 2 engines?
@dime6664ever yes that is true, however the SOHC 427 Ford made an honest 657hp bone stock. Therefore making the 427 Ford the highest HP v-8 engine EVER produced.
@dime6664ever yes that is true, probably more like 575... however the SOHC 427 Ford made an honest 657hp bone stock. Therefore making the 427 Ford the highest HP v-8 engine EVER produced.
What BS would that be? The Rally Sport option was available on all Camaros as a cosmetic option (not a performance option), therefore a buyer could get it with a six cylinder engine just as easily as they could a V8. There were plenty cars built with this option prior to and after the 1969 model year. My apologies, but I don't understand your point here.
@dfinkie what do you mean? rs was like a fancier option. the rs/ss was luxury plus performance. my dad owned a 1969 rs/ss. it had howns tooth interior, convertible, cowl hood and a 396/375hp. 4 speed transmission.
@dfinkie explain then why this particular ZL1 looks dead on like the prototype specs it was the late 60's you could get whatever you wanted long as you paid more for it it not like now and days were you get what you get and deal with it
Some people says the stock exhaust were a bit restrictive, it wouldn't breath that good, but slap on a set of headers, and set up the carb proper and you'll probubly ends up over 600 bhp range!
Btw, for those who have seen the Sonny Leonard Hemi heads, doesn't it look similar to the rat engines standard heads overall?
He even claims they flows even better than the comventional Hemi designed heads.
This is an engine that would be perfect in an Nova 69-, giving Hemi darts a competition.
I didn't thought ZL-1 Camaros could be ordered with stripes, i guess i was wrong then.
And to You guys or girls who are about to make an clone/replica ZL-1 car, why not make an Corvette ZL-1, but with Convertible as an personal thing to add?
I know that there is no ZL-1 car that had convertible, but hey, why not go your own way?
Take an Corvette Stingray Convertible 1969- that already were equipped with 427 bigblock (390 bhp version)and stuff the ZL-1 V8 into it? Would be one cool car.
Yeah, it was the 9737 (Sports Car Conversion; basically Rally Sport parts) option for the 9560 (ZL1) or 9561 (Z72), and only two 9560s were made with the 9737 option.
If I'm not mistaken, the 1967 L88 had 560 horse power. The block came cast iron with aluminum heads available. and by 1969, the ZL1 block was all aluminum and the compression was bumped up a bit higher, I think in the 13.5 range, and it did 575 horse power. I remember reading up on this way back, I hope it is, in fact accurate. Imagine all that power in an engine thats lighter then a feather, and is nitro and supercharger ready! Reinforced block and the whole nine yards!!! Amazing!

The rs option sounds like BS. I grew up around those cars and I don't buy the rs/ss BS either.
