politicians take money from lobbyists to ensure that the corporations and organisations the lobbyists present can continue to to whatever they want to.
Politicians have the role of ensuring that nothing changes because the ones who have the money are the ones who have all the power.
This is the best metaphor for elections I've ever heard. If I ever get a chance to comment on our political process, I'm going to use it and credit you, because it's the most meaningfully true thing I've heard about politics in my entire life.
yeah! agree agree... too much talking n analyse is becoming noise... tat's why.. safe t globe noise pollution, give peace, work peace, jus agree with u. .. stop tat nag nag nag bla bla bla...
This. I cringe when hearing that lies, spin, pandering, etc. are things we just need to accept. No, they're things we put up with because 1) our standards are so fucking low, and 2) we have so little control about whom we elect. Give us preferential voting, at the very least, and see how much less bullshit people are willing to accept from their candidates.
Great metaphor of politician... and you're right about getting grossed out after watching it for too long... angry is more like it, lol... but anger can inspire constructive creativity, so is all good, lol. Rather than complain, create to fulfill that which is missing; meet the need.
YES thank you, ALTHOUGH I'd like to point out this is exactly why I wanted Hillary Clinton to be president. Like don't get me wrong after Obama got the nomination I supported him 100%, did volunteer work for him, and even bought his book, but I just felt more than any body Hillary was not afraid to do what she had to do to fix the flooded basement, without just spending a bunch of time blaming the last plumber lol, popular or not that's how I felt. Perfect metaphor btw. Just my take on it.
Finding your channel was definitely the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I wish I'd seen this video last year because this is EXACTLY how I was feeling.
Jay you're wrong for once. We shouldn't except mediocracy. Politicians will never be perfect but we should push them towards being truthful and accountable. Obama will not be perfect, but he is a step (maybe small and maybe big, time shall tell). This is the only of your videos so far I have not agreed with!!
What I like about your videos is that what you say is so obvious that most of us wouldn't have even thought of things that way. Keep up the good work.
i've been going through your video archive due to having only recently discovered your channel... but in light of recent political mumbo jumbo, i'm pretty sure that you have some insane prophetic visionary powers, because your plumber analogy is eerily relevant. perhaps some retrospective irony?
so, i think everybody - but you - should stop talking. that would solve a lot of issues.
Man, I couldn't agree with you more. You have an amazingly refreshing perspective, and we all need to think more like you. I'm gonna keep watching, so keep spreading the tolerance and common sense! Peace!
I am loving your channel...just found you but i SOOO dont want to leave you...lol...EVER...great analogies too:P Keep up the great videos, even if you don't have anything nice to say...what are we, 9?...the rule that says "if you do not have anything good to say...", certainly does NOT apply here. Keep it up, stay honest and cont. to enlighten us.
I absolutely understand how you feel, but you can't stop talking. Silence implies compliance, but there's no need to constantly repeat yourself. You've got your...uh...guns(?) and you're sticking to them! All your subscribers can see that.
Never stop talking, illdoc. You're a wonderful and calming voice of reason that's especially necessary in the middle of this exhausting mess. And I loved your extended plumbing metaphor.
LOL my god that was genius. LOL i loved the metaphor, and when i saw it becoming...a little out there you said "i'm drowning in my own metaphor." i had to pause it, i was laughing too hard.
Politicians are people who use force (or the threat thereof) to achieve their aims. It's not ok to be a politician any more than it's ok to work for the mafia. The state is institutionalized coercion and hypocrisy (at best). Everybody should have the same rights and follow the same laws. The individual is sovereign. There is nothing that the state accomplishes by force that the market could not accomplish better, faster, and cheaper through voluntary/consensual/non-coercive means.
Thank you IllDoc. There really is way too much "indecisive" and even more petty speach going on over everything that we ultimately have no control over (no matter what we say). I'm breathing now.
I admire your efforts but I also see them for what they really are and that's the ramblings of a man who's backed in a corner and fearing the future. Your "sesame seed" analogy was effective with me at the time but I fear now that I may have lost hope. I got my umbrella (for the leak in the attic) and I'm preparing myself for another 4 years of eating water chestnuts. Thanks for trying tho.
I like the analogy but I have to disagree with you on this one Ill. The only way Hillary can get the nomination is by the Super Delegates over turning the will of people who voted in the primary. If that's the case I can't be apart of the Democratic Party anymore. They will have completely and utterly revealed themselves as a party of elites at that point. Clinton will say anything, promise anything for that nomination. I can't support her at this point. She's revealed her true character.
We and the media shouldn't stop talking; we should stop talking nonsense. Which is exactly what's been going on for weeks now. Real issues aren't being discussed as awlays and if I hear about Rev. Wright one more time, I'll shoot myself in the foot.
Anyways, you have an opportunity to talk about those real issues in your own voice; a voice that a lot of people would like to hear. You really can inform people, you know. Even if it's YouTube
Agreed! I lost interest well over a month ago when all their policies were adequately debated. The prospect of this dragging on until the DNC in august doesn't help either...
This video was a self fulfilling prophesy. Anyone remember "Joe the Plumber"?
