@BillyKavouriaris That's actually a powder mixture called Metsubushi which is made from all sorts of good stuff. You'd usually throw it at an opponent's face, effectively blinding him or obscuring his vision, which would present the opportunity to counterattack or disappear.
You all seem to be a bunch of whinning children. Everyone in Ninjitsu seems to thing their way is the only way. Man up and get over it. I started in this style a few months back, with Manaka's head student. ( he's in Dayton Ohio), I live in Indiana and train with a group here and travel to Ohio. I will never get into all this political b.s. Enjoy or don't but keep all the bad remarks to a positive min. Enjoy
@cagedraptor its not just "ninjutsu" all martial arts trash talk each other but no one cant ever agree to the same sparring rules so they never actually have it out, but rather they just use keyboards it seems....
@fardisghomeshi You know how in Ninjutsu the defensive techniques are used against an opponent who throws their whole body into an attack? Are their any techniques which don't require your opponent to move a certain way? I 've watched hundreds of videos on Ninjutsu, and haven't found any I can remember off the top of my head. An example would be nice. Ty. Also, what I mean by move a certain way is, most people don't move their right leg forward when they attack with their right hand etc.
@fwahoovaghad Without stepping forward, there is no reach. If you can't reach me without moving, then what's the threat? If you want to reach, you'll have to move...
All of the techniques you see demonstrated are kihon. You have to learn and master the basics in the limited scope of the kihon training before you can take them outside the box and make them more generally applicable. Once your body can move without you having to consciously think about it, then it becomes clear.
@kurzweilfreak I understand that. I just mean that, Ninjutsu teaches an opponent will move in a certain way. There are other ways to move. You don't have to put your hole body on your right leg to attack with that side of your body. In fact, most styles teach differently.
@fwahoovaghad every martial art teachers moves a "Certain way" its to get you used to blocking punches and the person "goes with it" and doesnt really try to hurt you during the learning phase, its different than free sparring
@Taud I know, I just don't understand why you have to put your whole body into it when you move in some styles. Most people don't. Is this something that is changed later on?
@fwahoovaghad well no you dont actually put your whole body into it when you attack, they do it like that so its easy to block, i cant speak for everyone but typically my karate class started like this just to get you used to be hit and blocking until later you actually move up to free sparring where you can try your moves out, not a lot of bujinkan will sparr tho for insurance/legal reasons, the school near me hosts a sparring class saturday thats NOT mandatory attendance so its optional
Actually, because of the nature of ninjutsu which, due to its necessary historical development, is an art which always changes, with the circumstances and as such, does not create a necessity for rigid stabody nces, Quite the opposite in fact. It teaches taijutsu, the unarmed evasive method of body movement, which schools the individual to flow from one posture to another, thereby changing with the immediate circumstances
if hatsumi hadn't opened the ryu to the public none of this would have existed.ppl like Manaka Unsui, Hayes, tanamera, van donk, bussey are all bad apples in the bunch and all for one reason or another left bujinkan.not only they r not considered high ranking or skilled in hatsumi's eye but they also lack the characteristics of a proper ninjutsu student. all have flaws in their personalities.the art has a nice way of getting rid of ppl who r not fit to continue.
@fardisghomeshi <<<< I agree with you BUT : the art has a big flaw, nowadays. Not all the people that DESERVE Ninjutsu can reach it. People with few money can no more afford teachers nor follow regular classes. I was teaching 3 times for many years and most of the time, people had a free course. My requirements were discipline and good willingness. And still when i faced different Shihan, money still was the problem to follow them. I am Nidan, from the Bujinkan. But i'm much more worth it.
@fardisghomeshi Stupid, all of them were and are very high ranking. I think people like you, who don't at least show respect to ex-members, as if they were children who ran from home, and just needlessly pass judgment on others are the ones who give the Bujinkan the bad name. While it is shameful that they left, some of them, like Hayes and Manaka, are still on very good terms with Soke and requested for him to leave the Bujinkan. You're a moron, don't waste your breath commenting on this.
@OkamiNinja7 ur d moron idiot.so what they r on good terms i am good terms with king of iran? they no longer part of bujinkan cus of thier flaws.go fuck urself u diot.
@fardisghomeshi I'm still in the Buj, you fuckwad. Maybe Mommy and Daddy should get you a Speak N' Spell for Christmas this year, you can't spell for shit, you lil' 3rd grade twat.
@fardisghomeshi You're a disgrace to life, get yourself a tanto and just commit hara kiri already, the world hates you anyway and you'll be doing it a favor.
@Arteanor and @fardisghomeshi you guys should read A book of Five Rings, or Dan Millman's Peaceful warrior. it might clear your minds and you'll realise your petty arguments mean nothing. Miyamoto Musashi's rule No.9 out of 9, never be useless.
@DanBowenTV Except for the fact that what they are teaching is not Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu. Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu is unarmed combat, they are obviously armed.
ah but you see... thats the BEAUTY of the bujinCON.
whenever you get roped into a definition YOU gave... you just lie and change it... and refer to as many words in as many different ways as possible...
isn't it funny to you that togakure is the ONLY "ninjutsu" ryu that claims to include martial arts??
and isn't it also funny that there is absolutely NO evidence for the claims of hatsumi (despite his sayin he has scrolls). scrolls takamatsu didnt mention AT ALL to the BRD?
@Arteanor its really funny like the way you talk like you know what you are talking about or anyone cares for what you think.ur a moron who knows nothing about the art.don't call me a kid u hillbilly i got more knowledge that you could ever have in ur pathetic life time.go to a dojo you hillbilly spend a good yrs in it then come back humble and try to say"wow nice video".you have not gotten the microscopic amount of experience or knowledge to comment on nay of these videos.
I would like to ask where this video was shot, especially the clip where Mr. Manaka climbs the tree with the shuko. There is a person who says there aren't trees that size in Japan. :)
Don't get me wrong i think Manaka is/was great. But it became all about the money, i mean techniques by the DOWNLOAD???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I and many of my friends left the Jinenkan b/c it's is stale and rigid, not a living thing ie... your hand is 1/4" off the mark, you suck". I don't think that's what Takamatsu had in mind when he passed this art on.... Manaka knows his craft but wants to be the next Hatsumi imho. Tanemura prob teaches the best balance between Martial & Art now.
@natgaint I agree with you. There is a time for rigid kata and the "you are off 1/4 inch" mindset, and there is a time to let go of all that and learn to create and be spontaneous. Problem seems to be that people either get stuck in kata and can't move past it or they throw the form away and try to "just flow" long before they are ready. I think Manaka is on the right track, raising up his students slowly and carefully. I am sure the less rigid stuff will come along when its time.
@Jinenkan4win Unsui and Shoto both seem to want a piece of what Hatsumi built. Too bad they could not have simply accepted Hatsumi as Soke and moved on. Would have saved a lot of bad water under the bridge.
@Jinenkan4win Or maybe Manaka Sensei wants to lay a solid foundation for his students before they go off trying to be formless and "alive" before they are ready. Some folks think because they can flow and be alive that they are skilled, but what they really have is sloppy taijutsu. Interesting that myself and several friends sought out Manaka sensei and the Jinenkan for just that reason. We wanted a solid foundation to build upon, just like Hatsumi sensei had.
Most of my experience with Manaka Sensei was before he went so commercial and rigid with kata. I'm always aware that he could hurt me but is being gentle even if there is pain... a sign of a true master imho. I miss those days, now some of the movement lacks heart and life, more about the money less about the art. I'm hoping for a turnaround before Jinenkan dies out.
EXCEPT when you consider that the karate todejutsu kata that takamatsu incorporated were what gave the frame to hang the rest of the skills he decided to include in togakure from the other schools he knew....
we even have his letter to kukishinden zensho saying as much...
he also told Tanemura and Hatsumi that the taijutsu was 'Kukishin Ryu Ninpo',,,,
togakure wasn't made up until AFTER kukishin gave him the no-go, since they never taught him any ninpo....

One must learn the strict techniques first. Once that is learned then he can start to stray and create. But one must have a solid base.

commercial and rigid with kata? you mean teaching the techniques the way they were written down, the way they're supposed to be done?
that sounds like the exact opposite of being commercial and selling out, to me.
