  • holy crap

  • this is a twat

  • I bet the real reason they cut this was the actors couldn't tackle it hahah cause honestly it's SO perfect cinematically

  • @lavalamp625 It's still more likely that it's because of timing- they can't have a three-hour long film. Plus if they brought this back in, thay'd have to add in part 2 and more of the Judge and so on, which would add so much more time to the film. Not that that's a bad thing, but they just can't do that.

  • "I heard a click, it's the gate, the gate- we don't have a gate." Bahahaah. XD

  • I saw this the other day in Chichester!! It was amazing... but when this song came on... Made me sure! I WANT A BOYFRIEND!! :( who can sing this to me... hehe

  • This makes me feel quite lonely

  • I love this, why isn't it in the movie :(

  • What characters sing this?

  • @austinstaton712 Anthony and Johanna.

  • @austinstaton712 Johanna and the dude

  • I played Johanna in Sweeney Todd a few weeks ago, and hands down this was...no... IS my favorite song!

  • did they only record a soundtrack? Or can I find footage of them in a play singing this? I am so confused. Please help!

  • I love this song!!! <3

  • "It's the gate! It's the gate! We don't have a gate...." Oh Johanna..

  • @WhatsAHufflepuff Lolocaust.

  • lol "You don't have a gate!"

  • we're doing sweeney todd in at a community theater, and i've only seen the movie. so when they gave us our cds for it, i listened to this song & now i'm in love with it. :)

  • This is such a hard song to sing, only one of my friends could ever pull it off, so i really hope she'll get the part, but i'm pretty certain she will. Sondheim is a pure genius. Sweeney Todd is simply a masterpiece!

  • The lack of this song in the movie is the one thing that pissed me off slightly, it's such a cool one!

  • Guys, if you want to kiss a girl just remind her she doesn't have a gate :)

  • i'm doing this song for an audition tuesday... (: Nerves

  • @anneloeskrul how did it go?? :) i got the part of johanna in the local production :) this is really fun to sing when it gets to it!! :D <3

  • @leahlovesroses heeyy, it went really well, i nailed the high notes ^^ i was just soo nervous, so when i was done, i walked away from the director and walked right into a table. lol, i have a huuuge bruise! how cool! :D ill get to hear it wednesday! ^^ are you already rehearsing?

  • @anneloeskrul heya! :) ohh well done then! :) so when do you know..? or do you already know?? :D and yeah! :) ive been rehearsing for about 2 months and we're on in like 1 and a half!! arhh!! ive got rehearsals later today! we're blocking today, so yeah.. my only problem is IM 16, but the anthony is 37!! :O a LITTLE awkward!! :D ahaa.. our voices compliment eachother tho, so thats a bonus! hes the best male singer in the cast.. :D are you english btw? random, but yeah! :P ill friend ya!! ah!:D x

  • @kakairuislove You got Boo'ed? Why?

  • Comment removed

  • @kakairuislove I truly honestly doubt you actually were in a production of Sweeney Todd. It would be very strange for non-choral students to be in large singing parts of such a vocally intensive show. Also, if your school is full of rednecks wouldn't their parents be up in arms over a school doing such a violent and dark show?

Let's not make up weird stories about being in shows you weren't actually in, thanks. /rant

  • @kakairuislove Punctuation is the first step to not sounding like a redneck.

  • Johanna is a cute little nutter.

  • The guys who pressed the Dislike button thought it was: Dis i like :D

  • awesomeness... YAY

  • "You don't have a gate!"

  • I like this the best of all the casts I think...although I love the first cast too! :D

And this is my favorite song from the whole musical! :)

  • this is sooooo my favorite song from sweeney todd

  • UGH!!! I can't stand this version...the orchestration is too watered down...

  • A person missed the like button..oh dear...

  • Lol, im trying to sing this, EPIC FAIL :)

  • It doesn't sound easy at all!

It's a beautiful song and it suck that they cut it from the movie

  • nice post Signy :)

  • This is such a difficult song, I love it and they have done a good job of it!

Wow I just think it's amazing...

  • my friends and i are making a sweeney todd remake. i have to sing this. yay!

  • Whhhyyyyy did they cut this out of the movie???? GRRR!!

  • they wanted the audiance to focus more on Todds story. I know, I feal the same.

  • @redsteelchair because in Mr. Burton's vision of the movie, he cut out a lot of things. first of all he cut out the songs that break the fourth wall, so that the audience would really believe they were watching a movie, second he cut out most of the comedic relief (AKA Antony and Johanna) to make a darker theme for the film. I agree with you though this is one of my favorite songs :P

  • @robotchicken15748 I agree because he also cut out alot of the funny stuff out of "A little priest" and I dont think that Tim wanted Johanna to sound so scatterbrained (you dont have a gate!) and whiney (you said you'd marry me monday that was last august) and stuff :/

  • @robotchicken15748 Which songs break the forth wall?????????

  • @Shopola none in the movie, but in the broadway version, all of the ballad of sweeney todd's talk directly to the audience!

  • @redsteelchair they cut it out of the movie because in the movie theyy had a gate. =P teehee

  • @SuperCriticguy

    brb dying of laughter

  • @redsteelchair They had a gate in the film version of Sweeney Todd and it says "Its a gate Its the gate we don't have a gate." So it wouldnt work.

  • @redsteelchair Cause in the movie they have a gate ^.^

  • @redsteelchair The actual answer is that they wanted to remove filler and as much romance as possible to focus on the mood and gore. I like the song.

  • @redsteelchair This is one of my favorite songs. Also, wouldn't have been the perfect opportunity to bring back "Johanna, Mia Culpa?"

  • love this song - I tried singing it lol not as easy as it sounds!

  • @gpowell09 no it isn't, xD I had to play Johanna in my school's version of Sweeney Todd. I swear, I'm lucky my vocal chords didn't break xD

  • I was lucky enough to see the US tour when they came to where I am, and I was absolutly blown away. It was soo amazing to see it live. Not to mention the cast was superb!

  • i saw the one in edmonton. It rocked and you know what? i got in for free

  • O.O Lucky!

  • i know i was so happy my mom works at her work!

  • they just came to where i lived and i had the privlage of seeing it twice. i work at the theatre it was playing at and it was absolutley amazing! it completely beats the movie.

  • i'm rehearsing for johanna right now, and this is my favorite song. :) it's so fast and insane that it's really intimidating but at the same time the harmonies and clashing and matching of words is so pretty i can't help but fall in love with the piece!

  • I know! It's fantastic. I love how "I feel you, Johanna" and "I love you, even as I saw you.." go together so nicely!

  • oh man, that's my favorite part! :) both singing it and listening to it are so great...

  • amazing! i this is a great version of the song. Sweeney todd in concert was great
