  • does anyone know if jamerson used a mute and if so what kind?

  • @1954telecaster He used the bass mutes that came with the Fender basses attached to the bridge cover back in the 60s I believe.

  • @mookieisrad your correct on that.

  • James is my all time favourite bass player, but is this the relased bass line? formt he singles take? cos its mad out of tune , the intonation on this bass is whack.

  • @bigstevehonest hes not out of tune at all man, thats just how recordings from that time period sound

  • The bassline is the best part of the song!!!!!!!!! That is how you know its "I heard it through the grapevine" Love it, its nastayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • JJ's basslines appeal to the soul and true music comes from the soul. James basslines is his means of communicating his genius about a particular piece. Some may not appreciate it because of their talents levels. But to those who appreciate James musical prowess, then you are communicating with him. This is his legacy.

  • girls and boys, dont bother answering obvious trolls, specially those who say they are better bassists than Jamerson (FFS what a tool), just enjoy the music

  • No way, there's no way that Jaco would disrespect Jamerson ... he had to grow up on Jamerson just like the rest of us ... and there's no denying that Jaco took bass playing to another place ... but before he did that, he had to listen to Jamerson and say "Wow, that's genius", just like the rest of us ...

  • I love Jamerson and Jaco, comparing them is stupid, agreed, but Jaco is a better musician, and maybe bass player. PERIOD.

  • @buefyYT

stop smoking crack, Jaco is good not on Jamerson's level

  • @TheNewsoul2

because you can totally argue whose better right? hahaha.... how is jamerson better than? explain this "fact" to me.

  • @buefyYT

Why should I explain Jamerson who created the template of modern pop music bass playing and influenced everyone from Paul Mc Cartney, Jaco, John Entwhistle, to Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham VIctor Wooten and Flea to some asshole like yourself. You are bashing the greatest bass player who changed music and inspired 2 generations of musicians and played on some of the greatest music of the last 50 years. Jamerson is the bedrock of bass playing while you are just a smart- ass prick.

  • @TheNewsoul2

Oh...see, I didn't know that it's not okay to have a different opinion than the one you have, which is that Jamerson was the best bassist. I also didn't know that the amount of musicians that someone influences means that one musician is better than another.

Enough being a dick.. but you don't get that I was saying you can't say that one musician is better than another, there's no fact. I can say that i'm a MUCH better player than Jamerson, Jaco, Victor, everyone. On the basis th

  • @TheNewsoul2 --at my definition of better is that they are pretty good at minecraft, play bass in a couple jazz groups, and are alright at the bass.

  • fuck jaco

  • @dubfortheyouth

    fuck you.

  • Man the jaco fanboys trip me out. Jaco was good for what he did. but Motown?? He wont touching Jamerson. This song probably would have had 1,000 more notes in it lol.

  • Ah, the internet... gotta love it.

  • this is how i wanna play just straight and clean!

  • The people who keep flapping their mouth about Jaco like he's the only guy who rips it on the four-string probably suck balls on the bass themselves...or they simply want to inflate their limited depth of music to make it seem like they know some shit.

  • Jaco is to Jameson as Steve Vai is to Hendrix. You can't compare the guy who practically invented how the instrument is played with those who came after him. There would be no Jaco if not for James Jarmerson.

  • @sylver264j With that said that in no way shape or form makes Jamerson better than Jaco. Simply because they have a large influence on these people doesn't make them better than them. James invented it (......that's funny I recall there being a Charles Mingus before James Jamerson) but Jaco perfected it.

  • @ArtemisFlyingV

IMHO neither is better than the other. It's all relative. They each had a style of playing unique to them. Apples and oranges bro.

  • @dubfortheyouth Your opinion man. I think Jaco is better.

  • @sylver264j anyone here like Les Claypool?

  • @sylver264j Jaco carved a spot for himself quite nicely with his own sound ! and through a style of music no where near as accesible as am radio so shut the fuck up genius you don't have a clue !

  • @sylver264j another important point to make is, once someone (or a group) has shaped a certain style, it is only natural for some other people to come along and say: "how can I innovat this/be different?"

  • that´s the bass ! proudly i can hear a bassline like that

  • I am speechless. Jamerson was the master of the smooth and soulful groove.

  • aint that the funk machine? in the picture

  • @dastiks yes it is

  • just sick man

  • @SinSeared I hope you are kidding mate...this is JJ. And if you dont know who that is you are a Muppet

  • @SinSeared Of course this is Jamerson. Who would say otherwise?!!!

  • @SinSeared please die

  • @SinSeared please die

  • @SinSeared it takes a lot of free time to troll music videos on youtube though.

....and i bet a little pee came out while you were typing that...
