Also, my grandfather has a 351m foxbody with a monster transmission AOD and 3.73 rear. It runs low 10's on spray. I am not biased towards domestics or imports. Drag racing is boring. Picking a line? That's what everyone does on their drive to the grocery store. Avoiding shit? That's what people do all the time when driving to the grocery store.

    the first gear is set extremely high then the 2nd 3rd n 4th is set way to low for that little engine

    thats the only reason why those piles go fast after a a while is the low gear setting

    why do you think nascar uses lightly modified v8's

    vtec doesnt do anything special

    its a jst a different gas injection when at higher revs

    it gives about 5 more hp nothing special

    if it were something special it would be used on race cars

  • I could just call you an idiot. But I'd rather go into detail. First, nascar uses extensively modified v8's. Any off the shelf NASCAR engine costs around $85k to $120k from Bush, Craftsman Truck or Nextel motors, Joe Gibbs, DEI, Childress, Hendrick, Yates and Ganassi. Nothing on a nascar engine is from the factory, not even the engine block casting. Also nascar speeds are mainly achieved by their long gearing and extremely long final drives.

  • The reason nascar uses v8's exclusively is simple. Displacement. Nascar bans any form of forced induction which makes hondas or any other import motors useless. Also, vtec does do something special, at an engaged RPM it activates an exclusive third lifter that rides a larger cam lobe with different lift and duration, no different form of injection happens, the fuel map is just changed.

  • This way vtec motors ride a smaller cam lobe at lower RPM for more torque and a larger for more horsepower at high RPM. Making the powerband very very efficient. The reason people dont use a type of "vtec" in race cars is because almost every racing class or bracket doesn't allow more than one cam profile. You're comment about 4 cylinders not being intended for racing is retarded.

  • The very first race car was a single cylinder. And any type of engine can be built and modified to perform better than its original state, making it a PERFORMANCE engine regardless of size and shape. It's better than the original.

    when that happens the air fuel mix is turned into bigger amounts creating simply hardly any horsepower what so ever

  • wtf??? not at all gm uses the DOD (displacement on demand) its a v8 engine when running at low revs it uses 4cylinders when towing or higher revs it uses all 8 pistons if you wonder why not 6 cylinders simple physics would show that it would be and unblalanced engine think about it 6 cylinders running 2 sitting or 4cylinders running and 4cylinders sitting they just use a solenoid control valve

    You are an idiot. MANY vehicles now have variable valve timing, which is related to the VTEC system that Honda pioneered. VTEC actually provides huge benefits in terms of power. Larger engines simply use displacement to make up for not having variable lift. Smaller engines need all the help they can get, hence the use of VTEC.

    VTEC is found on SOHC motors as well!!!! Please look up VTEC on wikipedia before you pollute youtube with inaccurate info.
