I just made the dough. Really simple. I use alot of smoke for steaks so I'm not sure if I want to use this dough for fish or spread it on my venison steaks!! I will reply later to let you know how the fishing trip went. Take care.

That is called Liquid Smoke. you can buy it in the store, but you can also make it. basically you burn a mesquite or hickory wood fire or whatever preferred wood and funnel the smoke thru a chimney and at the top of the chimney you take a bowl turn it upside down and cover the chimney where the smoke is coming out and put a bag of ice on top the bowl. when the smoke rapidly cools down it turns to liquid when you catch that and bottle it you have liquid smoke. there are vids on youtube

This bait works. Made it today and went fishing between 7pm and 9pm and caught 6 channel cats in 2 hrs. This works!!!! Thank you. I fished off my boat which is docked at Pymatuning Lake and we share the lake with Ohio and Pa. Just dropped it over the side at my dock and had more action in 2 hrs than i ever did!!! If you ever fish Pymatuning let me know because i would like to wet a line with you. Again people THIS BAIT WORKS!!!!!!

@donaldleejr Yes the lake is big. Does your inlaw live in Pa or Ohio? I used that bait a second and third time. Second time i caught 8 Cats third time was spotty only 1 cat many bites but i did catch a 15lb carp on the bait. Only place around here that sells liquid smoke is an IGA store in Kinsman Ohio and the Walmarts.I am semiretired and live up here all summer then i go back to Pgh to work. If you want good, clean, edible catfish in southern Ohio area check out miami river north of Hamilton town it is good clean clear water and check out houston woods(also called Acton lake) it is by Miami university, this lake is undercover good fishing because of horsepower limit and remote location(its a big lake). There you go!

But I'm pretty sure that was just luck, plus it was raining. But my question is, are treble hooks illegal on La Due Reservoir? or what is the regulation on them because I want to use stink bait but not sure if regular hooks will work. so please help me.

@jdn1992 yes you need to use flour. the flour makes is stick together. when you cast be easy dont sling hard. make sure you use the treble hook that has a spring on it, that keeps the doughbait together or if you dont have those you can use panty hose (black color) and cut a square piece to wrap around the dough ball to keep it on the hook.
It is nice to find a show like yours. Thanks for the video. It was easy to make but I had no luck catching fish. I went to the same lake where I caught catfish using chicken liver and I didn't get any bite at all. The bait fell off if you reeled too hard or casted too far. I didn't use any flour since it was not too dry or wet. I casted and left for 10 mins and if no bite I rebaited and recasted. I used treble hook no spring. I am going to try another pond where they stocked catfish to see how it goes.
Alrite my dude...thats a pretty big cat...I cant get the dough to stay on my hook though. I even froze it to the hooks like you said. By the next morning when i went fishing it was meltig and falling off the hook soon as i casted out. Any more tips???
if not you can buy the spring from home depot, it should just fit over the eye of the treble hook, cut to fit and clamp in place, doughbait hook setup works really well and don't cast too hard
you have to set it once and leave at least 30min if no bite reset. most cases its still on. flour is the glue for this bait!
1st it was too wet then i added more flour...then it was to dry and started cracking..Treble hooks yes,springs No. I'll try it again here tomorrow. The cats im ts trying to catch are out of this lake and its about the length of my leg. Post up how to do the treble hook with the spring if u ever get a chance. after i let mine set ip tha middle is kinda hard it like turns to powder when u take a peice off. tha outside is soft and doughy but tha middle isnt.?? what do i need to do

@journeytheoutdoors i kept adding water and mixing it ;up but it never really helped i didnt kno if it was because i didnt use any flour? could that be it? i think it may have just been drying out because at first it stayed on. evertime i casted it out i was getting bites everytime. jst kept loosing tha bait.

@jdn1992 yes you need to use flour. the flour makes is stick together. when you cast be easy dont sling hard. make sure you use the treble hook that has a spring on it, that keeps the doughbait together or if you dont have those you can use panty hose (black color) and cut a square piece to wrap around the dough ball to keep it on the hook.

if you uhh, mix cotton with the dough, uhh, it will stay on the hook n e way. u also don't uhh, have to use treble hooks.

It is nice to find a show like yours. I really enjoy and am very passionate about the outdoor lifestyle but I hate the over commercialization of the industry and the gimmicks and gadgets they r always trying to force down our throats. I don't even watch the mainstream outdoor tv shows anymore because of the Madison avenue mentality they have, it's not all about money or prestige for some of us it's about hunting and fishing and conservation.

I have used some from last year!
yes, you can freeze it and keep it
2 weeks. just sure you cover it. I like to
put it in a ziploc instead of a container
because its easier to get to as it thaws out when your fishing.

Thanks for the video. It was easy to make but I had no luck catching fish. I went to the same lake where I caught catfish using chicken liver and I didn't get any bite at all. The bait fell off if you reeled too hard or casted too far. I didn't use any flour since it was not too dry or wet. I casted and left for 10 mins and if no bite I rebaited and recasted. I used treble hook no spring. I am going to try another pond where they stocked catfish to see how it goes.

Alrite my dude...thats a pretty big cat...I cant get the dough to stay on my hook though. I even froze it to the hooks like you said. By the next morning when i went fishing it was meltig and falling off the hook soon as i casted out. Any more tips???

if its because its too dry add a little water
if too wet, add more flour.
are you using doughbait treble hooks?
with spring on it?
if not you can buy the spring from home depot, it should just fit over the eye of the treble hook, cut to fit and clamp in place, doughbait hook setup works really well and don't cast too hard
you have to set it once and leave at least 30min if no bite reset. most cases its still on. flour is the glue for this bait!

1st it was too wet then i added more flour...then it was to dry and started cracking..Treble hooks yes,springs No. I'll try it again here tomorrow. The cats im ts trying to catch are out of this lake and its about the length of my leg. Post up how to do the treble hook with the spring if u ever get a chance.
