I bought a tempest165 as my first kayak with only little canoing experiance.(note that the tempest is very similar to the chatham, and if im not mistaken an inch narrower). the second, third and fourth times I paddled it was in 35-30 mile per hour sustained winds with absoloutely no problems. I am now addicted to the basic designs of the tempest and chatham.

"they are an excellent choice for a skilled paddler (sea kayak) with a whitewater background (reading rivers, rescues, etc.)."
SKILLED PADDLER is the operable description. Not for Noobs who just bought their first boat.
