  • ... But will it blend?

  • Ferrari 1

  • This is odd because u need the special port the only the garraro 1 has

  • It was cool if it actually would process for the laptop screen. For a external screen I have my desktop already at home...

  • I want

  • Where can i buy one?

  • HOLy SHIT THAnK GOD I HAVE AN AMD PROSSESER! I AM BuYING THS EVEN IF iTS OVER 200 DoLLaRs!

  • @dman0331gmodgames You need that special PCI-E connector I could probably use it cause I have a FSC Amilo Sa 3650 which has the port, it comes with an external 3870 though.

  • Looks like it would be an awesome solution for a college student who games but also needs a laptop.

  • can I use this for a laptop only..... I mean is no external Monitor but for the laptop top ....... can I play games in the laptop or I can't??

  • @HontouniZoom this is what I'e been searching for myself, it seems that the simple answer is no. there is a hack to do this if you do some research but I advise only experts try it out. also if your lappy has an hdmi IN then it might make your life easier. however these are all PCI connected (all eGPUs solutions I found) and the card is configured to send the video feed to it's ports, not back through the PCI

I am now waiting for a thunderbolt solution for my mac, maybe that will answer it :)

  • where can i buy one of these???????

  • What connector does it use?

  • @flashn00b as far as i know it uses a PCI-express port but, if your laptop does not have one (which many don't) there are PCI-E to USB solutions

  • @moomoomeal no it cant be done usb 2.0 cant barely do hd pvr that why it cant stream vidock best i seen for kits it abt 230$ for a kit

  • @theporkchopchannel oh really? i didn't know that. could it be done with a usb 3.0? or possibly a thunderbolt port?

  • I have only ever seen 1 laptop in stores with this plug. Really it's just a 2.0x PCIe express link with a line for USB 2.0 so the laptop driver can manage the external box. The problem is that it offers little or no benefit over other third part solutions that already on the market, that use the ExpressPort or mPCIe port, and can use desktop graphics cards. It doesn't even have a DVI loopback so the internal laptop screen can be used.

  • what interface does it use?? doesn't it create bandwidth bottle necks since it doesn't have full bus integration???

  • so you have to buy a whole new monitor when you get a new graphics card??

  • How do u connect that to ur laptop ?

  • AWESOME TECH!

  • I wonder if this would work on a dell demension e510 pc?

  • Make one for the new macbooks with thunderbolt!

  • Indians !!!! NICE !!!!

  • rocking crysis at 800 by 600 relolution

  • Just to make it clear for everyone. To use an external graphics card via XGP, you do NOT need an ExpressCard slot. What you DO need is a XGP slot. It's a special port, for special cables, and it's nothing like the current standards (USB, eSATA, ExpressCard, SD, etc.). Existing external graphics card solutions that use ExpressCard, like ViDock, are connected to the ExpressCard slot, which is connected to the motherboard through PCIe x1 (one lane). XGP connections are PCIe x8 (better speed).

  • @tomichaubg so what laptops have xgp ports? i have never heard of them.

  • @emosp0ngebob Well, that is because there are not very many. The new Acer Ferrari (don't know which model) has an XGP slot, and an older Fujitsu Siemens Amilo had a similar slot. There may also be a Toshiba with XGP, but I'm not sure. There are really not that many out there...

  • if u have to use an additional monitor u might as well just keep ur desktop around i hate useless tech. fucking a.

  • @idiot4aday good point

  • i dont have an express card slot, what do i do?

  • @Bortelliify same here all i want to do is upgrade my laptops graphic\s card

  • @Bortelliify nothing but weep. thats all.

  • wuakakak not talking cpu and ram.. please check it out b4 u comment.. it call XGP xexternal graphics platform.. u can say it external GPU .. not cpu

  • @elvenlee buy another motherboard with a slot

  • unless they make a external cpu and ram, theres gonna be major bottleneck

and if the total cost of netbook, external cpu, gpu, and ram gets expensive, i might as well get the alienware m11x gaming netbook

  • unless they make an external CPU and RAM, this is gonna be a major bottleneck

  • where do i get this?

  • This is so dumb. If you dont have an PCI port on your laptop you cant use this, Acer ferrari One sucks, processor just sucks....

I prefer to work like slave until i have the enough money to buy an alienware m15....

  • @ricayovillanueva You can buy the Amilo SA 3650 it comes with an better cpu.

  • do u have to have express card slot dor this

  • @MrPyrotech96 basically YES!

  • Unfortunately all they do is show demos at shows. There is still no external XGP compatible graphics card available to buy anywhere, even on the Internet. I have had a Ferrari One for months waiting for the promised XGP cards but it looks like I'll be selling it now.

  • wtf

  • Seriously?!?! This isn't a "gamin powahowes". The cpu is so bottlenecked with a 5830. Most desktop cpus are bottlenecked with a 5830. This is like putting a car engine on a weed wacker. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

  • WHEN THE FUCK IS IT COMING OUT

  • Name change to XGB. Its way more cooler. For External graphic BOOSTER

  • so when does this shit come out?

  • ALAHU AKBAR *presses a button*

    *BOOOOOM*

  • I'm going to be the first to turn an EEE 901SD into a computer that can play Crysis on high.

  • No your internet is slow only 8 megabytings upgrade to 42 megabytings i love phonejacker. just bought this gpu. Got good benchmarks got it cheap anyway nice vid (:

  • @CHAPMANSTIG where can u get 42 megabytings, which country am on 18 atm!

  • I'd rather just have a cheap Laptop, and a gaming PC... Or in my case, a gaming PC and a gaming Laptop.

  • Turn up the settings... and get massive:

    -CPU lag

    -RAM lag

    -Motherboard lag

    -Hard drive lag

  • Just so you know, you need an ATI XGP ready laptop/netbook to be able to use the ATI XGP. You can't use it with older laptops that don't have this technology installed, which seems a little against the point of wanting one.

  • @Drum8888 Well this is true, but the same could be said for any technology introduced, It will take time to come mainstream into products. But it is a fair point to make.

  • where CAN I BUY IT?

  • what if ur computer doesnt have a pci express slot, like mine. are the USB slots not fast enough for this kind of data?

  • Think they'll come out with a 5850 or 5870 version?

  • Asus made a product similar to this a while back it was a external 8600 gt which used a use connection but it was not very popular and just as rare.

  • oyuiyyi

  • pretty cool!! where i can buy this? :D

  • Hell, I have 4gs of RAM and a dual core processor, yet my laptop bones me because its graphic's card is weak.

  • @funyongod me too dude im gettin this for sure

  • most laptops aren´t compatible

really wanted something like that for my Acer 5920g

  • I've been thinking about a product like this years ago, i would have made a place on the notebook like an HHd door, but instead you could put in swapable graphics card

  • where i can buy and how much does it cost

  • @ms701 its about $160

  • you said "you can have this notebook" so when can i have it and where do i pick it up? :)

  • What the fuck did he say?

all i heard was " blah blah bah, Uh Uh, Uh Uh."

  • Great. The question is where can I buy an ATI 5000 Series mobility radeon???? Since they are not sold to the consumer market

  • ehhh idk how i feel about the mobile gpu...would rather have a simple plug and play external adapter for regular gpus...that way you can upgrade to whatever card.

also the catch to this box is that you must have enough ram and a big enough processor on your "small and thin" laptop that it can run any game you want.

  • Thats cool

  • indian?

  • So if im correct, this actually works on every laptop with a proper pci-express port and not just 1 or 2 computers of a single... producing company? Dunno how its said..

  • ABDUUUUUUL

  • @ruhtraeel hey thats my name lol

  • where did u get this and how much does it cost!

  • YES WHEN?! I'm getting that netbook and NEED this awesome magic box!

  • Fujitsu's AMILO Sa 3650

Expect to cost about 300 bucks or so...

  • Damn that laptop looks so techy and cool! I think I'm gonna get that one when I finally decide to get a laptop.

  • So, when will I be able to pick one of these up in Scandinavia? I've heard alot about this stuff in the past but never seen it around any stores or even heard of anyone owning one - so this new showcase from just last week brings back some faith into the (reasonably) mobile gaming space - or, why not simple notebook upgradability.

  • I've been waiting for this a lonnnnngggggg time. Pricing? And can it work via PCI Express 2.0?

  • woooooow i need one :O its gunna be hella expensive i bet

  • hello my friend indian.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if similar things get common in the future!

  • now we need some external cpu's and rams to make our cheapass eee pc's gaming platforms :D

  • @gadgou2 lol, It would be way more expensive then making one yourself x(

  • @gadgou2 this doesnt work for eee pc.the reason is that eee pc do not have an xpress card slot

  • @gadgou2 im working on it lol

  • sadly you will hardly find external pci express 2.0 port commonly on notebook .

But this technology really gains to be more popular

  • I have the 13.3 inch Fujitsu Siemens SA3650 with the PCI Express 2.0 connector plus the ATI XGP 3870, and I wish to express that it's a very amazing technology, and turns a small, compact laptop into, truly, a powerhouse.

I'll be looking for this 5830 XGP for upgrading purposes, but I might need a external CPU too if this keeps up.. ;) (Turion ZM-82 @ 2.2 ghz works great though).

  • I have been trying to find an online retailer willing to ship the sa3650 to USA. What online site did you get yours from (assuming you also live in America)?

  • It's tough to find, but since I'm in Europe, my advice may not help a lot. Try sites that keep check of stock of e-tailers, I had a lot of luck getting the SA3650 myself, it was sold in a bundle with the 3870 XGP for 600 euros to me.

Best thing you can do is try to keep searching, or wait a year or longer until the next XGP model would arrive. (No word on that though).

  • pricing???
