TYVM! :) you just saved me from having an OCD attack. I couldn't take it when the folder was at the right side of the dock - made it so 'vulnerable' and 'disposable' as it is so near the trash can. hahaha. thank you! :)
@sdschramm i already made an alias, but I can't add it to the dock (it is for a jarfile) and I want to give it a custom emblem thing. I don't want it on my desktop, I want to have it on the dock.
@mojacko086 open a new finder window, navigate your home folder (has your user name on it) and in there should be your downloads folder. Just drag and drop that to the bottom in your dock.
Thanks for the info. I'm wondering and hoping if this will work with other such things like only the links to programs, or documents, or folders with other folders inside with audio files or Logic file.

Really awesome -- this also worked with a .webloc file! Now I have a OneNote icon that brings me to the webapp version of onenote!

@HapplyFace if you want an alias, then hold down option and command while dragging.

@HapplyFace rename it as an app, drag to dock, rename without the .app extension and it should stay.

@mastervtec Sounds like folder to me? If you don't like the way I talk, then close the video and move on.
