  • very good cover!!!! love it! and the thing about this song..... yeah, it touchs your soul.....

  • @integralkarl : Johnny only knew one thing, and THAT was to sing from his soul. =)

  • i prefer the nine inch nails version but this is still a very good cover

  • good vocals! just dont be shy sir!

  • i'm trying to figure out what model guitar you're playing. appears to be a seagull, but which model?

  • You have a good eye, rss5995!

It is a Seagull S6 Cedar (standard, no pickup). I have it miked with a Shure SM-57.

  • maybe i can talk you into putting this on vanderbilly?

  • Man, I just don't have the time to make a lesson video. It's pretty easy to play though. There are lots of covers on YT to use as a resource.

    Thanks for watching, BTW! =D

  • This is fantastic! Once again...

I'd love you to do a cover (including vocals) of Dave Matthews - Gravedigger.

Willie Nelson did a cover of it in 2007 aswell, which was great. Definately suits your voice and playing style.

  • Hey man, thanks for digging deep into my crap!

I need to get more into DMB, so thanks for the suggetstion!

  • the chorus isnt well.. the quite correct is G Am F C

anywhere, you play bass like god

  • Thanks, nemesis!

And, Thanks for watching too! =D

  • This song is probably the best one he made in his last years. This and When the Man Comes Around are my favorites. Great job too!!! Your Vocals gave the song a younger better feel.

  • Thanks as always, Ktallica!

Glad you dig the Man in Black!

  • I Like your style! and you guitar! Thanks!

  • Thank YOU, 18Erikson18! =)

  • i do know what you mean about it posesion you this song has power ive been playing it my self for no reason it made me play it and im still trying to learn the whole thing well peace out and i will never stop playing

  • your singing voice aint as bad as you think remember jimi didnt think his was good

  • Hey man, you digging pretty deep into my crap! This was a song that somehow possessed me, so I had to lay it down.

Whew, glad it's behind me now!

  • yeah, the composition is creepy like that. how it can really grow deep within.

pretty nice version i must say. i, too, think your singing is a little less monotonous than Johnny's cover

  • nice job

  • Thanks, dylna1!

  • One of my favorite songs, Nine Inch Nails version and Cash, but Id have to say I like yours better than Cash. Great singing man, you are awesome!

  • When the man comes around, I don't F**k with him!

JR Cash is THE MAN, and I'll never forget him.

    Thanks again, MickAlpine!

  • I love the voice once agian!

  • Thanks again, claptonhendrix1!

The school's still out, but I may keep trying to do this. It's kinda fun! =D

  • Wondeful!!

  • Thanks for watching, bluesman5931!

    Peace~

  • Hey, awesome job. This is a great song....nicely played!. 5* . Do you mind if I ask what instrument mic you use? sm57?

  • Thanks again, vazdeferenz!

Yes, I mike it with a SM57, positioned about 6" directly in front of the sound hole. The SM57 is an industry workhorse!

    Peace~

  • Wow Motor. this is different, different but good. You voice suits this song well. 5 Stars

  • Yeah, it's REALLY different. I gotta get back to Jimi's music...but quick! =D

    Thanks for the rating, man!

    Peace~

  • cool song,done very nicely,good job bro,5*****s Peace

  • Thanks, DrewAnti1960!

    I'll take that! =D

    Peace~

  • That was great. That song was one of the last ones I heard JC Sing before he died.

  • Yeah, me too. The imagery in the Cash video is almost impossible to watch. He is very frail. Even with that, he is still the "Man".

    RIP JR Cash!

    Peace to all~

  • oooo motor, i see you're coming into the darkness yourself!! hahah..nice nice!!!wow, what was holding you back from singing? very nice version of hurt!!! ^_^ *****

  • Hey, when you cover the proverbial "Man in Black", it's mandatory to do it in the dark! How did you like my lighting? I put a desk lamp on the floor...LOL!

Along with your cover, there are about 1,650 versions of this on YouTube. Add one more today! Hahahaha! =D

    Thanks as always, Ms. Mojo!

  • haha love the 'lighting'!!..

  • Another Great Performance by Psycho! You need to stop!..lol your like a candy store..Ya got me coming back for more! As always Nice Man! Keep posting I learn alot from watching you play..

    Take Care.. *Peace*

  • Thanks, spacecas!

I promise to lay off the heavy stuff...like this, anyway.

More "happy" songs on the way! =D

    Peace as always~

  • Long time no see Motorpsych0!

Awesome playing, and you're voice really fit this song!

  • Thanks, qtipsch!

Hey, I'm always here covering Jimi, or anything else that strikes my fancy!

Anyway, the lower "registers" of Johnny's voice are impossible to hit. Johnny's the MAN!

    Peace~

  • Great playing Motor! ('my empire of dirt' that descrbes me perfectly.)

    Sounds great:)

    :)

  • Thanks, DVW!

Hey man, I'm glad this one is behind me!

I really shouldn't mess with the "Man in Black".

    RESPECT!

    Peace~

  • good lord man, i felt this!! that was AWESOME!

  • Thanks, James!

'Ya know, it's difficult to approach a song like this. It helped that I had a headache during the day! Sheesh...

I'm gonna cheer up, now! =D

My next song will be "On The Good Ship Lollipop!"

    Peace~

  • great job you have a good voice and u really made this song flow

  • You're too kind, zaboman358!

My voice is shaky at best, but it works for the "mood" of this song. I ain't no JR Cash!

    Peace~

  • You know, it's funny, I've always wanted to do my own original cover of the Cash version of this song. Sounds goofy that I'd wanna do a cover of a cover, but hey, why not? I've got this idea in my mind...

Anyways nice job. See? You're a good singer. And yes...this song is very badass...and you did it justice. Great playing, and nice acoustic. What kind of guitar is that?

Also, the chords go from Am to C to D...and then alternating between C, F and G in the chorus? Right. And the song is in F?

  • TEB, I can always count on you, man!

I was thinking that I would post this, and then pull it if I have second thoughts. So far, so good...

The acoustic is a Seagull S6 (cedar top). I have it strung with Elixir's. I've owned this guitar about 8 years.

Yes, that's the chord progression, but I would guess it's in A (I never took lessons, 'ya know). :P

    Thanks again!
