  • Kind of funny that now in 2011 and even in 2010 everyone started growing and hating Bush and now they all agree with her. I bet all the people who said bad stuff actually feel stupid now since Bush did turn out to be bad for this country and sent us into this money recession where we have even bigger problems and he is to blame for them. I hope all those that stood up for Bush feel stupid and regret the words they said to the Dixie Chicks and I hope they are ashamed of themselves for it.

  • Good for her !!! There are so many women that can not , I am glad to be in a free country where If I feel like disagreeing with anyone of authority I can exercise my freedom of speech Thank You Nat for let us women know that we do have a voice

  • maximum sales, even by the rigged count from RIAA (Sony sits on the board as the biggest dog in the room) is 30.2 million. Shania Twain, on the other hand, sold 2/3 that number.... with one album. This song was presented publicly on the Katrina telethon, but refused by the DC's to be put on the DVD. They offered it as download only after it was released on their new album and sales had died down. In other words, they used Katrina as an advertising gimmick.

  • Oh therealmensa, nobody likes you and nobody will ever like you. The Dixie Chicks have more fans than haters, and Natalie said that the haters make he strong and proud. So it doesn't matter which side your on, either way your supporting the Dixie Chicks! Why don't u watch the vids before you trashtalk

  • Therealmensa, listen up if you hate the chicks hate them as much as you want, and they actually are the best selling female band in any genre in HISTORY. If you want proof, just ask me and I'll give you all the proof you'll need. Just ask me.

  • Its just because Nat was the first one to say something (they thought was negative) and too many ppl were focused on her to care what others said....and that dumbass reporter from London is who I blame....she shouldnt have wrote about what Nat said.

  • Love tesong and the sentiments. I love the Chicks and I;m generally more of a Pop nd Rock fan. Long may they sing

  • they are truly heores to me. i look up to these girls, no, these women. i only wish that they were not ridiculed by what they believe in. i dont understand why only THEY get bashed all the time when just about EVERYBODY hates Bush. i love these women like my own family.

  • great vid! :)

lol, love Nat's line, "We're not mad as hell anymore, maybe mad as crap", lmao, one more check in the why I love them box, hahaha

  • how convenient that all the anti-Bush ppl forget who else voted FOR the war....Hillary,Gore, Kerry and a majority of democrats in Congress...all privy to the same intelligence gathered as Bush

  • I think the DC's were very right in their opinion. Freedom of speech is for everyone, not just for those who agree with one thing. But, even in Religion, that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone who isn't Christian is always put down. These people revolve around Christianity...And if you think that's wrong, you should be thinking what happened to the DC's is wrong too. Hypocrites much. <3

  • Great video!!!! Thank you!!!! Good job done !!! many greetings all way ...somewhere from Europe, from the country I would say I'm the only one who loves DC and always will...forever!!!!!

  • The Mensa person appears obsessed with the Chicks. I have an idea, obsess yourself with bin Laden. Anyway, great video, great message dcx fan forever. Me too.

  • Love the Chicks. They´re really great musicians. I miss the Chicks. Hope they come back soon.

To mesa person, It´s only a small step from patriotism to fanaticism and fanaticism makes blind.

Sorry for my broken English, hope the wording was O.K.

  • sorry, mensa not mesa.

  • That mensa person who doesn't write very clearly, replied to my comment. --something about singing not being the same as expressing yoru opinion vs. the standard gov't procedures. That begs the issue of celebrity. People choose to hear and follow celebs. Most people choose to listen to constant propaganda from radio talking heads rather than to heartfelt comments by singers actors. I don't get my opinions from the musicians I respect. That doesn't alter the issue of implied violence.

  • It makes sense the Chicks will have to change their fan base some. But we Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Judy Collins and BB King fans will fill in the breech. It was a kick ass beautiful Newport Folk Festival up in New England this month. ANd Judy Collins uncompromising stand for the people with her new albumm was very cool. When blood is spilt-- the blood of someone's sons and daughters-- ANYBODY has the right to question the leadership as to whether that blood spilled is waste or not.

  • It is great that there are people who will question the leadership. Being able to sing doesn't imply a greater right to do so. If you are of the mind that the people you mention are your conduit to change, then you've immediately ignored the very process that makes our government responsive to the people. That is, your representatives within the government. Joan Baez and Judy Collins may be voicing an opinon you share. The 2003 comment by Nat Maines could hardly be considered the same.

  • The Dixie Chicks exercised their free speech to make a pandering offhand statement on a subject millions were having to take deadly serious. Those same people exercised their freedom of speech through a closed wallet. Since the DC's decided to launch a three year propaganda campaign to bash everyone who helped them become famous in the first place, they shouldn't be surprised that they played to 51% of the available seats during their last tour. As an entity, the Dixie Chicks are history.

  • I have to ask you, WHY are you on all and any DC vid bashing them? Do you have something stuck up your arse to devote sooo much time and energy to this?

  • I have to ask you, WHY are you on the DC vids? To listen to the music? Great. Want to question the validity of my opinion. I'll be more than glad to support anything you think is "bashing" with factual evidence.

  • Indeed, for the music. But every fecking video has your comments or the comments of your earlier, now abandoned, username.

Why do you spent so much time bashing them?

Yes, there are some dumb gop rednecks who comment negatively, but the dedication with which you place your comments on each and all video's is just plain SCARY. It reminds me of Tony, you know the guy from the youtube murder.

So tell me; WHY? (because you ignored my and others ealier on)

  • You don't have to be dumb, or a gop, or a redneck to comment negatively. I can understand how someone so protected from real world situations that the nagging concern for them is why anyone would think differently than themselves (I'm talking about you). You've thrown me into a box that is wrong on all counts, all but accused me of being a potential murder, then you want answers. Yes, that's the way to go about it.

    Have a really nice day!

  • I didn't say your dumb, a gop or a redneck. I said that it worries me to see your name under every DC-video that my girl clicks and i have asked you (again) WHY.

WHY spent all that time on a band that according to you is a hasbeen. WHY harras those that like the DC's? WHY have multiple banned accounts devoted to that purpose?

Doesn't THAT strike you as odd?? Because it sure sounds crazy to me.

  • That is just the point, you assume i HAVE an opinion. I'm just someone who comes along when DD plays a DC song, and every time i see your (multiple) username(s) underneath all and any song. And i find it baffeling that anyone could have that level of devotion to what seems hatred to a band who in his(hers?) own opinion is "hasbeen".

    Now again WHY?

You have only one life, why spent it bashing DC-videos on youtube?

  • You haven't seen multiple user names unless you've gone through the thousands of comments posted to these vids. I find it baffling (note the spelling) that you would devote so much time to that. My time is well spent. This is one of the few public venues for the DC entertainement. Don't you think it strange that the DC's allow these posts? They do for good reason; the pulse of opinion resides here. This time, Jane doesn't come back thinking all is fine.

  • @LeafHuntress It amazes me too, the time 'haters' spend spewing their hatred, trying (I guess) to convince real fans of why they are so wrong. I just think, get a life, devote your passion to something you love.

  • Well, you know-- country folks don't believe women should think for themselves. The Chicks beliefs, which I agree with, came in love. Look at the hatefulness of the attack. ...by their fruits you will know them?! America: sucker punch to unthinking fascism . Now a new energy in Wash DC that can help. Is America bombs? What is that? big firms and big oil. USA can mean rainbow tribe of honesty, humility. Thanks . Like Odetta, Arlo Guthrie, Dylan,Joan Baez: Chicks will win out.

  • Well said. I have wondered what the big deal was too. Bono from U2 said he was leaving the country and George Clooney talked bad about the pres too. I am from the south and I can tell you that women are never going to get over gender prejudice because women are the ones holding us back.

  • Check out their new song...

    Dixie Chicks Lucky One

  • they said their opinion! you didnt have to post this! just sayin

  • while i think its good that they posted this vid so maybe the dumbasses who hated will see that they only used their freedome of speach like other celebs

  • awesome awesome awesome video! thanks soo much for it. i love it. kinda got me teary eyed!!

  • Why? It's because they played country music, and many of their fans assumed them to be conservative because of that. Country music fans and Texans, for some unknown reason, felt like her comment was an insult to them personally, even thought the only person insulted by her words was W.

  • i dont understand why it was such a big deal about what they said...they were stating their opinion. i feel bad that they had to take all of the crap they went through.

  • I think they are right about ol' George. He is one of the least respected presidents in history, if not the worst one yet, and Im going to be glad to get rid of him!!

  • Better to die on your feet

    than live on your knees.

    Freedom of speech!!!!!!!!

  • Wow americans dont know that freedom of speech is a RIGHT and not a CHOICE?wow how smart are u guys? gosh

  • you are correct in your statment but a person has every right to burn and smash cd's this falls under the 1st adm. Let us not forget a burnning corss is freedom of speech. It is fine that the group said what they thought but on the flip side its alright for others to react in their own way on their beliefs.

  • yea but some people went way to extreme

  • Any 'former fans' who decided to ditch the Chicks, any radio broadcasters who didn't play them, any boycotters, any protesters, any and all of these people who turned their backs on the Chicks can go fuck themselves and die.

Live on, live free, Natalie for president.

  • Freedom

  • I was the only one in my school, my neighborhood, possibly my TOWN who stayed loyal to the Dixie Chicks. I saved about a hundred Cd's from trash cans. What they said wasn't so bad. They were just speaking their minds. The jackasses who now hate the Dixie Chicks were stupid and blind to vote for the WORST PRESIDENT EVER! SCREW BUSH AND ALL EX- DIXIE CHICK FANS! Bless the loyal fans... Go Chicks!

  • No body yis debating your right to free speech, its just some people took things a litle to far didnt they by sending death threats, public burning and smashing of cds and merchendise that was way ott. They received more hate and bad press that a peodophile or murderer would!!

  • But how can you be that mad at someone just for having a different opinion than yours?? Didn't it ever cross your mind that you can also be a fan of someone who doen't always agree with you on everything? I mean, do all your friends think exactly like you? It's so narrow minded...

  • well then i guess ur just going to have to hate all the other celebs who spoke up

  • b/c they said the comment in the UK shortxsweetx! I support the Chicks no matter what!

  • The why is very simply.....they were women in country music!

Wouldn't have mattered a damn otherwise.

  • Thanks for listing a few of those who said similar things; many others backed them, without much publicity. To the establishment they were just "a bunch of silly women who should be slapped about"; and more to the point could be made an example of more easily than others. That the Right is still mad at the Chicks says more about the Right than it suggests anything fundamentally wrong with the USA, fortunately!

  • "a bunch of silly women who should be slapped about" That's one of the sentences that shocked me most! How can an independant reporter say she agrees with that? Beyond me...

  • i know right?

  • hey love the video and love all the quotes especially at the end. I love it when Em says were a sisterhood we go through the good the bad and the ugly altogether I reckon it's my fav quote. well except for maybe Just so you know..... thanks again. cheers Emms

  • they won 14 grammys! Not 13.

  • oh and meant to say I love the quotes at the end, nice touch :)

  • oh I love this sonf, one of my favourites on TTLW,great video.Wander why is wa Ok for Dustin Hoffman to voice his opinions in the UK,but when the chicks do this they are heavily critosised for doing so?
