The way to get ahead was to educate yourself, take the official state examination and join the civil service (like getting a government job). There was always the incentive to be well-educated.

Western parents tend to give kids some leeway to make life choices. Asian parents tend to feel it is their responsibility to make sure kids succeed in life...

This child is amazing!!! He's a true Prodigy. I like to see him when he's 20 yrs old. I'm not a violin player, but the violin is one of my favorite instruments. Anyone out there who's learning should not feel bad if they're older and they can't still play like this boy. Like every thin in life, some people are better than others in what ever they do, and like to do. Peaple like this child are born with a very special talent, and there is always room for others so kee on dreaming, and hoping!

I was practicing violin when I decided to listen to others playing on youtube to see different styles, ect. And I came across this....I don't know what to do with my violin in my hands right now: whether to go burn it or attempt to continue practicing in shame....

I believe all of us musicians here just got burned by this child. Amazing technicality, although I wouldn't say it has the flow or perhaps style. but that will come later in his career, which shows bright and promising :] props to the pianist also, usually they don't get the credit associated in this. but I do have to admit, the kid just stole the ENTIRE show. good job and keep on playing!

I love how all the comments on white violin virtuosos are all pretty and filled with flowers while the ones on the Asian virtuoso-videos are packed to the brim about "pushed children", "emotionless and forced by parents", and "good technique but does not play the piece with interpretation."

from hearing many different people playing this peice i think he has the ricochet speed down but hes following the piano which tends to play some parts slower such as the "pluck" of the first string.
