This episodes works on so many levels - pain, rejection, loss, love. There is a thread that works for me here: Kezia was Mrs Cratchit in the classic 1951 "A Christmas Carol" starring Aiistair Sim as Scrooge - among my all time favorite movies, & certainly theme. To have the God/love/acceptance theme reflected in the movie & this LHOPT episode tells me that God works on many levels.
Man, today's programming is such tripe, demoralizing anti-God crap. Where's the HOPE & ENCOURAGEMENT?
This episode is sad.I almost cried when I saw Jack lying on the hay with no reactions.Laura took a few seconds to realize her dog was dead.I felt so sad for her and for Jack.It was a dog so good and great with Laura and other people and joyful.Poor Laura. This moment is heartbreaking!
what kind of a church is that? the congregation deciding who gets to believe the way they believe and who doesn't? no matter how crazy someone is, it doesn't give them the right to decide if the person should be allowed in their congregation.
There was one advantage in how communities like this had sovereign rights to decide who can live in a community, and that is it kept out criminals or just everyday rif raf. Nobody had to put up with bs, waste time and money with the sheriff or risked getting in trouble in any way when they decided to put garbage on the road out of town. It was quick, less trouble, saved money, gave citizens proper rights, and kept communities safer, quieter, cleaner, and gave a town a better rep = prosperity.
@sondano Still you could do it because no matter the size these days you are still cuffed to the system. And even in a larger town back then citizens in a neighborhood could get involved without risking getting into trouble. My great grandfather hit my great grandmother and several men came to the house and threatend to beat his ass or worse if it happened again. The community got involved and it was stopped.
jack dieing made me think of my dog zoey she was just like jack always playful and great with kids she died last year from poison in the dog food i felt so bad because i wasnt there that day to be with her RIP Zoey
@TheStormferret i know what you mean about not being there when ur dog died. i was in spain when my mum rang me to tell me that they had to put my dog to sleep due to a tumor in her liver. i cried for days!
From 1977-79, he left Little House to star as a small-town Georgia police chief in Carter Country. When the series ended, the actor was surprised that Michael Landon was agreeable to returning the character of Mr. Edwards. French appeared in Episode 8 of Season 6, in Episode 8 of Season 8, then returned full time, starting with Episode 19 of Season 8.
the Edwards family left after the 3rd season, it happens offscreen, they don't show them leaving. In the 4th season you see a new family - The Garveys, who move in to Edwards home and they basically become the Ingalls new friends during the 4th - 7th seasons. Mr Edwards, Grace and Alicia appear again in a epi from season 6 then Mr Edwards character returns full time in season 8. Hope that helps.
when Jack died.. it broke my heart.. I feel so bad for Laura, she didn't know he was going to die and she didn't spend any time with him.. that's why I give my cat attention every second I can because he's old :(
Jack reminds me of the dog I had, and ironically, I was ill and it kind of made me frustrated as i wasn't getting better and then I had to have an operation adn was away for 2 months. The dog died a few months after that and part of me feels so guilty of being aggressive when I was not feeling well. I'm very close to my new dog and always give her attention.
Assisstant director Miles S. Middough remembers his reaction, when in the middle of filming a take, Kezia's crow flew into a tall oak tree. "We all realized how strong Merlin (Johnathan) was when he put his hands on the ground and told the 170lb bird trainer to stand in them. Then he effortlessly raised the trainer full body and arms length up to rescue the crow! Merlin was a true gentle giant."
To get the crow to land on Merlin, Michael put a piece of meat and the crow landed on its mark.

@steelflame1 yes but you can't do that beyond a certain size. WG had only 100+ citizens.

From 27:26-27:31 when Nels is taking a drink at the barrel you clearly see a boom mic reflecting off the window.
