Can anyone help me with the meanings of: "rain bitaai" & "Bhor bhi aas ki kiran na laayi" ? Thanks,
  • Thanks a lot for your enchanting and precious comment.you are most welcome.

  • @vishruths I think the lines may be translated like this---"puchho na kaise maine rain bitayi" -Don't ask me how I spent the night. "bhor bhi aas ki kiran na laayi"- Even morning could not bring any ray of hope.

  • Thanks for benevolent, gracious and warmhearted comment. You are most welcome.Pl do stay connected with me.

  • @alwayskris Vish dear,, you have explained it well but to me the meanings are beyond thease,, rain here means life span and Bhor is reference to any good event of life ,, and as a whole he says dont ask me how i spent my life it is so miserable that even the morning which brings light to every one has not brought any ray of hope to me,,, it is so great singing of Manna Dey in Raga Ahir Bhairav,,, there is hardly any classical song parelel to this ,, other than Rafi Sahib's O Duniya ke Rakhwale,,

  • old movies are always better than the new ones. old movies had a situation follows through the whole movie. songs did the work to pull the odience into that mood.today they have none of these even if there is a sad scene they are singing a happy song.

  • thanks for uploading this wonderful song. If I am not wrong the tune of the song was originally inspired by the bengali Nazrul Geeti and a very popular song "Arunakanti ke go jogee bhikhari"(in raag ahirbhairav, dadra beat). can also check out and listen to the bengali song sung by various artists:

  • @dbrt01 you are right.

  • Lata said in an interview that she and Asha were always scared to sing with Manna Dey.Unfortunately he did not get many songs to sing..his voice was unfortunately used for comical songs...what a waste of his magnificent talent.

  • This man is in agony. Does anyone happen to know the storyline to this movie and as to why he is in pain? "Ask me not how I have existed through so much pain". Well that's a close enough translation!

  • its raag Ahir Bhairav...what a raag man

  • Poochona kaise yeh man ...the melancholy squeezes my heart. Unbearable pain

  • One of the best songs ever, this is way before my time too, im just 27

  • He is still the best..

  • Absolutely speechless.. Manna Dey ji was undoubtedly the most classically trained singer.. His songs are like rare gems.. Hard to find but definitely ones to treasure..

  • Why you had that doubt , even?!

It doesn't matter what their training/social-background/region/language. Voice, dedicated singing and proficiency matters only shud matter

  • FYI, Undoubtedly means "without a doubt". Where is the question of me having doubt on anything? Please read the comment properly first before commenting. Thanks.
