Great show, i loved it since i was 7 23 years ago when they had reruns of it on my local Fox station and it's this plus Burton's movie and the comics that made me the Bat fan i am today. This show was such fun, Gorshwin was terrific as riddler as was John Glover on TAS.
Aunt Harriet had a case of 'Sunnydale Syndrome'. She basically ignored all of the signs about her nephew being Robin. Any dumb dingaling could have figured it out.
Well....any dumb dingaling except her.
Why couldn't they give Robin a cool aunt that encouraged him to skip school on occasion, slip him a couple of bucks on the sly, and give Bruce grey hair?
who agrees that caesar romero was the best joker burgress meredith was the best penguin frank gorshin was the best riddler and george sanders/otto peringer was the best mr. freeze ?
hey fanofbats not the only fan of batman in fact i'm a batman fan too. In fact if you must known the part of your youtube name is the same nickname that the jocker uses when he sometimes is taking to batman.
5 years after her 1st appearance on Batman, Jill St. John went on to play Bond Girl Tiffany Case in Diamonds Are Forever which was Sean Connery's 6th Appearance as 007 and she is also the current Mrs. Robert Wagner
It's kinda funny that I found this here, cuz I watched it with my dad, and he remembers watching most of these from when he was a kid! (im 13 btw.) Ah, they don't make shows like this anymore... XD
Thank you for posting all these episodes on youtube :) I just wish they would release them on dvd. I already have the Animated Series from 1992. I would like to have this one as well.
I appreciate seeing this all up. I have always loved this show and I agree, Adam West for me, is the definitive Batman. This series needs a DVD release, dangit!!!
Ive had a really really bad day. Your hard work to post this and make a playlist has made me feel so much better, I feel like a kid again. Thank you so much.
I allways did wonder any hero who had a secret identity....why their friends, loved ones or the police (in Batman's case)...didn't reconize their voice?
Batman doesn't talk any different then when he is just Bruce Wayne. Same with Superman or Spiderman....they tend to make them seem stupid.
@TMPRecords You got that right, as much as I like Jim Carrey, he wasn't a Frank Gorshin type
No one could do that High Pitched Laugh like him
and also, Frank Gorshin once played a bad guy on The Original Star Trek after Batman was cancelled and he also played a criminal on the very 1st season of Charlie's Angels
Yeah, Bruce seemed pretty interested in the anti-crime centers too. It was teaching people a good way to get rid of money-grubbers (for lack of a better term).
Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith, Vincent Price, Julie Newmar, and Eartha Kitt were the best live action television Batman villains in my opinon!!!!! While Mark Hamill, Arleen Sorkin, Richard Moll, Diane Pershing, Michael Asnera, Paul Williams, & David Warner were the best voice actors in the animated series!!!!
He wants to know if they're cut to make more room for commercials. To answer the question, they're from Canada's TV Land, who, unlike its American brother, aired uncut episodes. Sadly it no longer does this, so I have the studio masters (after accidentally buying a set of American TV Land encodes).
You've gotten a few replies (idnandi explains it pretty well if you already know the difference in definition) and probably don't really care anymore lol. But peal is basically another word for ringing. So ringing a bell is making it peal. A play on words. Gotta love the riddles in this show, among many other things it's got going. Though this one seems to make a lot more sense than later ones XD
yeah funny thing is I called my friend like right after this and that's what he said. But things for saying this so at least other people know. I didn't know that peal was another word for that.
@Bladethepokefreak Well serious movie-wise, Michael Keaton was hands down the best. Bale's great, but Keaton is still better. Adam West is a different type of Batman, so it's hard to compare him with Bale or Keaton.
Jill St. John became famous as Bond Girl Tiffany Case in the James Bond Film Diamonds are Forever Starring the original James Bond Sean Connery and she is also married to her 4th Husband Robert Wagner of Switch and Hart to Hart.
This episode, Hi Diddle Riddle and Smack in the Middle; the only episodes that the material that Robin's gloves are madeout of,matches his Shoes! Every other episode for the 3 years, they are made out of Leather. Why is this? Fan of Bats

Very true. The comic was just as campy at the time, but later in the century the 'dark, angsty hero' trope became popular, and so the series itself darkened.
As much as I love the darker version from the original days and Frank Miller's revamp. I have to give this show credit. There is no way a dark version of this character would have been made in the 60's, 70, or 80's. And for many this was the first time you were introduced to this character and his world. MrKriss753 9 months ago
The pilot was an hour, and was intended to air in a single hour-long slot.
It was because ABC only had two early-evening (7:30 P.M. EST) slots open that "Batman" was split into two parts, on consecutive nights.
Otherwise, the cliffhanger would have been resolved over a station break.
BTW, note the stock shots of the 1964 New York World's Fair at the start of the show.
