This is so much better than what they did for the Special Editions. The version that has the Yazum, or whatever the hell he is, just sounds like Porno music.
According to the promo vinyl 45, "Sy Snootles" is performed by a Michelle Gruska. Never heard of her. And I'm not sure who provided the "weirder" voice from the actual movie version.
However Yarna d'al' Gargan - the other dancer with 6 boobs - unfortunately passed away in the early 2000's (renal failure). She's was supposed to have been a "funny" and "raunchy" actress - would love to see what they're talking about.
what is with the blue elephant plushie its just so cute why is he in jabbas i meen come on some of the freaks in there look worse than the crypt keeper or even dare i say it the vault keeper
It's because the band are slaves - as is Oola, Yarna and many others in the palace. They had no choice - but the band escaped Jabba's sail barge as it was going down.
This was the music video version of the song. They used to play this on MTV or music video shows like Friday Night Videos (if you didn't have cable). It was like a free commercial for Return of The Jedi. The studio was smart to release it like that. My dad loved this song so much, and was not even a Star Wars fan.
Lapti Nek was better than Jedi Rocks. This was one scene that I preferred George Lucas left alone, though Oola in the rancor pit was okay since it showed what was coming.
I have to admit, I'm kinda torn... the original puppet Sny Snootles isn't that great, yet the CGI Sny Snootles is terrible... yet Max Rebo is cool as ever...
I agree the CGI Sny Snootles and Joh Yowza are terrible. Lucas re-did Jabba in "A New Hope" from the Special Edition for the DVD release. (Now he looks like the Jabba in "Phantom" and "Jedi" rather then a Hutt with Down-Syndrome) I don't see why they didn't re-do the CGI for Sny and Joh.
Yep, you are ever-so correct. Also, when Jabba's barge explodes, Leia also has a similar problem but in the Special Edition, they cut it earlier to remove it.
Certainly a much cooler song, this; laid back and jazzy. I kinda prefer the rhythm of Jedi Rocks, it's just so much more lively, but the vocals, oh God, the vocals!
Does anyone know why there are 2 versions of this song? You can find both on YouTube. I know this is not the version on the 1995 VHS release because those are the ones that I have. When was this version of "Lapti Nek" used?
this is the unused version of the song. Lucas didn't like this or the original take of the Ewok Celebration and made John Williams change them. Both unused versions appear on the 1983 soundtrack release, but were never used in the film. The versions that were used in the film weren't released until the trilogy CD boxset in the 1990s.
Actually IT WAS used in original (before first enchancing) RoTJ movie (i still have VHS where this song is actual paying and remember very well that RoTJ showing in my country in middle of the 80''ths have this and not Jedi rock song.
Jedi rock along whit changed Ewok celebration was added after second major remastering of original series where have been added "new" scenes from Mos Isely, Cloud City and of course for the first time short view of Coruscant .
And to be honest i never understand whole concept of remastering of original trylogy (what is right now at DvDs is if i am not mistaken IV version of original movies).
But one thing IS sure. That song was in original cinema version of RoTJ.
I think you're confused. EweTooub is referring to this particular recording of Lapti Nek. Lucas had a "dirtier" version recorded with altered lyrics for the film. The awful "Jedi Rocks" song addition in Jedi:SE is a whole different ball of wax.
I love the version of the Ewok song on the CD with the "Real Ewoks" singing. A little too silly for the serious ending though. They should have used it in the Ewok TV movies.
@Jen32484 She did escape. And Boba Fett escaped from the Sarlac Pitt and they married and had half-clone half-Twi'lek babies. I'm sure it's all in a comic book somewhere via the Exploited Universe... or at least in some fan fic.
@Jen32484 Actually I was making a joke based on t fact that they DID bring Boba Fett back in the novels and comics so after reading your post I thought, why not Oola? The joke kind of steamrolled from there.
Thats Femi Taylor, a lead in London's Cats back in early 80's. A great dancer and lovely lady. Glad she came back and they re-shot some of her stuff for Jedi - I wish she had escaped! Great scenes.
I have to admit their lekku are sort of odd, and they're not born with them...but I knew Oola was a Twi'lek I just didn't know her name till about 2 days ago.
I agree, but she shoots off an "e chuta!" as he's tugging the chain, which is roughly saying "ef you" and it's sorta...well..dumb to say that to Jabba...poor girl.
