its amazing how good these graphics were for their time..even till this day they rival some games out there i.e. new vegas doesnt look as good as half life ...i could name more but no point.

@villest1 Diarrhea looks better than New Vegas, and any game using that engine actually. To me it looks like everything is made out of plastic.

And then everything got leaked and they basically had to cut most of the work they did and go back to the drawing board. The game still came out a year later and blow everyone away. The game is over 6 years old and the game still can go toe to toe with most shooters released today.

Anyone else noticed how the graphics in HL2 is more imitating real life "graphics" than a lot of newer games like MW1&2, Black Ops etc, which of course has newer and better graphics, but are following more to the movie screen picture "graphics". Movies looks smoother than real life in sense of optical abilities, surface, lightning etc, but still detail rate andt the realistic feeling is lacking

0:18 that's not a scanner the npc is called combot it has a voice commands like 'you may proceed' or 'please wait for scan' and it has an attack it has a fire and deadly gas and attack only when it's pissed or attacked and it's diffrend from the city scanner too bad it was cut it was great oh and can some one give me a link where i can download some beta skins
