This hasn't really happened to me or my friends, but like you said, Im sure it happens. The older people in my family would take issue if I dated certain men, but that is their problem, not mine. If it happens again, you might ask the person if there is a problem. This way you aren't being accusatory (you never know, you could've had something in your teeth, haha), but you are still addressing what is bothering you.
