the super sport was once the fastest car on top gears track, beaten by what looks like a v8 go kart. you cant say the bugatti got a quick lap time because of its acceleration and top speed

@ProleetGreek the new Veyron 16.4 is said to have a lateral acceleration of 1.4g (source: Bugatti) that's _very_ bad for a top car and for sure it's measured at high speed. That bugatti's incredibly high weight it's all but a good thing for a sport car.

Build a 1200 HP car it's more a marketing move of Volkswagen. A race car must be lightweight, with low centre of mass and then powerful.

@NormaJEAN2006 Um, hate to correct you, but the SLR IS an auto - just because it has shift 'switches' behind the wheel, doesn't mean squat. Pre DSG porsche's had shifters behind the wheel on their Tiptronic (auto) boxes, as do auto-only 5-series BMW's with the 'sports pack' fitted. Loads do - it's marketing...

@NormaJEAN2006 its called paddle shifters and it has a manual and automatic mode and the manual is without a user driven clutch. That by definition is an automatic transmission. Learn YOUR cars bud.

Nobody wants to buy the SSC Aero. Ever seen one road tested? The few that were sold spend most of their time collecting dust. Meanwhile Bugatti sold 300 Veyrons to the rich and famous. Google it.

A small kit-car maker that used to buil replica Lamborghini Diablos with an insanely tuned (read unreliable and undrivable) with a seriously tacky name (Shelby Super Car Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo) has no business being compared to cars with a rich heritage like Bugatti.
