Am I missing the point? Leo's SA/Rhod accent is great in this film but in this scene he is emulating the patois of the guy he is talking to. African pijin, not Afrikaans, which if he was speaking you wouldn't be able to understand unless you spoke it. Pijin languages form from traders, as a way to bridge language barriers. Very common in Melanesia as well, like Bislama in Vanuatu.

@itak365 In the film he says he's Rhodesian but he moved to South Africa and lived there for a while. he also joined the Military and fought in Angola. I dont know what a White Rhodesian accent sounds like because there's hardly any whites in Zimbabwe and most Rhodesian whites are living overseas or in South Africa, but his accent is very good for an American, but it's not as refined. If you watch the part where he's talking to the South African Journalist you'll hear the difference.

So many misinformed comments. First off, this scene is trying to portray what I can only conclude is a pidgin language based on Fanagalo. This is a language that is a mix of English, Afrikaans and other native languages. Second, throughout the film Danny speaks with a Rhodesian accent, which has absolutely nothing to do with America or Australia

@CDSanchez7 Its actually more of a 3-way cross between French (natively spoken in some areas) Dutch and British-English who colonized the area 1700-1800s. There are some Australian influences in some words but mostly its a mixed dialect of the 3 above.

This clip does NOT represent the dialect though. This appears to localized slang that Leo's attempting to pull off.... awkwardly.

He's speaking in a pidgin/creole tongue, it's really not that hard to figure this out. It sounds completely convincing to me, as somebody who has listened to (Non-African) types of pidgin. Leo's accent in the rest of the movie sounds spot-on to me. I haven't heard more than a couple of such accents, but at least I didn't hear it, think it sounded funny, and then declare it badly done. I love cracked, but I am pretty sure that's all they did here.
