I have been working with computers for a while, and i would like to tell my opinion. I'm sure that they will delete this comment or dislike it, but it worth a try. They have some missleading info in the video. This booting time is not fast compared to any pc-s in 2600 prace range, actually, it's slow. (In this price range there isn't so much difference, the bests are 9-12 sec). The keyboard and the mouse are really comfortable, it's seems a logitech mosue commersial for me :D.

@skittb89 If you have a problem with your computer that comes from the tech side/ the fault of Apple, they'll fix it. Of course you have to be in warranty. Now if you were being really stupid and slammed a Wii remote into your computer, then you'll have to pay for the fix. If come to worse that you have to get a new computer, Apple will give you a replacement for free (if in warranty). They'll even transfer your HDD over to the new one.
I just got a LED cinema Display, hooked up to the Macbook Pro I already had, so I basicly have an iMac, with the mobility of a Macbook. when I sell my Macbook I will probably just go for a Mac Mini though.. by then (2013 or so) it will be fast enough for my needs.

Does anyone have any experience of a noisy hard drive with these models? I have one and it's now got it's 3rd Seagate hard disk as I'm not happy with being able to hear 'grumbling' noises even when I'm quite a bit away from the mac. Going back to my local mac store soon to complain AGAIN about the noisy disk. I know hard disks make a noise, but I've a 21.5 inch with a Western Digital hard disk at work and it's nowhere near as noisy as the hard drive on my machine at home. Any thoughts?
1st. I would never use a Magic mouse nor the keyboard to play games with. I'd plug in my Merc keyboard and my Logitec G9 for that.
But for regular work on the iMac I guess they would work.
2nd. My PC starts in around 23-24 secs at the fastest with only a Raptor 10.000rpm and Windows 7 on it. I don't call that bad. How much in a hurry can you be?
my boot time was 28 seconds, so you paid double for 9 seconds, also I have 12 startup programs and drive Indexing enabled, I could disable 12 of my programs on boot to try and speed up boot time like you did, but whats the point of that, did i mention I am playing crysis @1080p maximum settings with 8xAA at around 30 fps on a laptop and you are playing what. now that cancerboy is dead maybe apple will finally go out of business and stop robbing people with slower more expensive,dead end hardware
@mcgrath9 Thats actually a horrible thing to say. You have such a blatant disregard and lack of respect for a dead man, and not only that but all the good people who have been lost to this horrific disease. Have your opinions about technology but under no circumstances does this mean you have to be a complete asshole.
my laptop can kick this things butt, I am amazed how apple fans can be attracted to shiny things and pay double price for a bad keyboard and mouse design, no expandability , no games , no compatability with 95% of software on the market. I have the same 2 hdd setup on my sager laptop ,I7 sandybridge ,16 gb ram expandable to 32 gb. and I can do dual 1080p external 27"monitors for 600 bucks, which is much better for video editing, doublepriced Iphones wont be selling fast too much longer.
@1davelegg i just picked one up today, there better not be a new one coming out soon hahahaha. nah ummm a new model was already made this year , made to be widescreen and bigger.
Apple have always been about looks from the start, the Apple one: a wooden computer. They know a thing or two about style, when it comes to comfort... not so much, but their innovation makes up for that.

@SuperAshwin19 I'm 14 and I have one. Really worth the money, but you shouldn't get too many processor upgrades etc. I have the cheapest 27 inch and it runs like a beast. The "professionals" thing also is bullcrap. The OS itself is really awesome, even for everyday use it's worth it.
@SuperAshwin19 Get it, it's fantastic. Not being a fanboy, I've used 3 very good windows computers, but the iMac with the same specs and 200$ beats all of them hands-down. They're not just meant for professionals, but anyone can enjoy them. Mac Pros on the other hand are meant for pros. Hope you get one!
@sairockr mine is a kingston 64gb v100. Its very fast with my amd bulldozer system (just ask if you want the speaks) and its can boot (excluding bios) from 12 to 20 seconds. They are around 50£ on most sites and are well worth it
Why the fuck are you playing your solid state drive in your price point. It is NOT $2600 you fucking moron. It's only that price because you shelled out the cash for the Solid State Drive and you only mentioned that once.
@madmangaz619 probably? you mean definatelly :P. There are no other screens at this resolution in the market. Still i did get above 60 fps at 1920x1080 (tv screen) so i think that 50-60 fps is about what i would get at a mac equivalent screen. i can only speculate though.
It has an epic screen no doubt but everything else is the same as my 900$ worth laptop and i do get a lot more than 50-60 fps in half life. It looks like a good piece of machinery but 2600$??? Jesus christ!!!
Does boot time help you when you are encoding a video? I think id rather waste 10 more seconds on booting than 2 hours on encoding. I'll stick wit my six core processor for 1000 bucks
Why do people always have to bring in the PC vs Mac argument? I've used windows all my life, it has it's advantages, it has its disadvantages, same with a Mac. This looks like an impressive machine that i would consider getting and placing it ALONG SIDE my PC rig. Silly fanboys creating arguments again.....
@CodesHD you know I used to like Alienware but had to let it go because of windows but now imac has already got me impressed of the better protection against VIRISES.
serganteddy5 You know I used to like Alienware but had to let it go because of windows but now imac has already got me impressed of the better protection against VIRISES.
you really know you are poor and geeky when your mouth waters when you look at a iMac, you day dream about having a mac, you go to the apple store constaintly to play with the Macs there, and you update your windows computer constainly so that it looks close to what Mac OSX looks like
@adlsfreund Dude think of it like this, a lamborghini or ferrari is small and doesn't have much space but really fast, a 7 seater car or a bus has lots of space but theyre speed gets destroyed by the ferrari or lamborghini. Some people prefer speed over space, some people prefer space over speed and most people are lucky enough to have both.
"19 seconds boot time destroys windows 7 boot time" lol i think this nerd's a little bit too far inside the apple side. I think he should say an ssd destroys hdd boot time cos windows 7 on an ssd boots with the same if not faster time.
@cheeezstik this video was made a year ago. And no, with bios and everything (measure starts at pushing the power button) I'd say none of the windows 7 mashines could compete at that time! Look at the videos ... most watch?v=DWMAti8vKG0 one example ... at the time the system actually starts windows, the mac would already be at the desktop! watch?v=U7MHSc6A-uw watch?v=QZnHMkJslhY all of them take longer, 5 - 10 seconds most of the time! bios -> win about 17-20 secs efi -> mac 10! get real ...
@hammer082 lol mac fanboy! Excluding bios settings, windows 7 boots up in around 5 secs, no im not making it up i just saw a video on youtube about it. With bios, depending on the motherboard can tak 5-30secs. My mobo takes 5 seconds because of customization so its a matter of choice there. And who cares even if you did boot up in 10 seconds, you just paid $2500+ for $700 worth of specs. Don't say apple computers are for rich men, cos they're for stupid men or apple fanboys.
I own a windows 7 pc WITH ssd for two years now, so spread your fanboy BS somewhere else please! Secondly, I didnt expect you to actually read or understand what a wrote, so there's a little hint: AT THAT TIME!Thirdly. Besides windows 7 I do have an installation of mac os x on that same machine making a fair comparison possible. Result: Mac os x wins even against a frash windows 7 install... And customize my ass! Of course you can make it faster.If you have nothing better to do!
@hammer082 Okay, im no fanboy, if you could do more with macs like play games and if they werent so overpriced, i would be on their side. Also, ssds dont all have the same speed, some are slow some are fast. And i'm not saying windows 7 boots up faster than mac, I'm saying it matches or isnt too far off. And all you have to do to customise is press delete at bios logo and change how long you want it to take up. Doesn't take too long at all. What better things do you have to do? Play alien swarm?
@hammer082 Just completely read your comment just then, if your using an ssd that is 2 years old, then of course its not gonna be very fast. Of course you would like macs better, your probably just a little boy with parents that have thick wallets and you probably have no computer knowledge what so ever, i guess mac osx probably would be better for you then i guess.
Since it was a comparison, between win 7 and OSX ON THE SAME DAMN DRIVE it doesn't matter how old it is. Same hardware for both OSs!
This is also a Hackintosh, so no, it's not a an Apple Computer at all. But from reading your crap, you're a little jeallous on those who can actually afford macs ... sorry for that.
Besides, I have 3 academic degrees in computer science, so get out of my sight, haterboy!
@hammer082 Umm no i'm not really jealous of people who can afford macs, I could easily buy one myself if i wanted to, but they are crap and overpriced. And since it's a hackintosh, apple made computers would probably never boot as fast then. And who cares if mac osx takes <5 seconds to load, it was based of linux so of course it would be a little faster. And for someone saying that i can't afford a mac computer, your pretty poor playing stupid free to play games like Alien swarm.
1. mac os x is based on unix, not linux. Yeah, but I am the one with no computer knowledge ...
2. If you think apple comp. are crap ... whatever, but don't make it sound as if that was generally the case, because it's not! Overprised can't be the case either, because enough people are buying them ...
3. What does the bootup of mac computers have to do with my hackintosh!? btw, the bootup with efi is faster than the bootup with bios (which I have in my hackintosh)
@hammer082 So people buying something makes it not overpriced? If toilet paper was priced at $100 a roll because it had an apple logo on it and some people still bought that toilet paper, does that mean the toilet paper isn't overpriced? And of course a hackintosh would boot up fast, it would normally have better specs, I was talking about a mac, not a hackintosh when I was talking about boot times and you tried to prove me wrong with your hackintosh... And get lost? You replied to me.
Even if the toilet paper was $1000 it's not generally overprized. Overprized means "too expensive". If you claim something is too expensive, you have to state "FOR WHAT"! Is it too expensive for you to buy it? Alright, I can live with that, but that's an individual statement, no general one! As long as people buy it, and the company makes money out of it, it simply can't be overprized! The market creates the prize!
Oh, and for the Hackintosh? The specs are irrelevant, because WIN and MAC OS ran on the same damn mashine the actual specs are irrelevant! It allows an independent comparison of the boot time, much like putting a bootcamp win on an Apple computer! Either way -> mac os x boots up faster!
And having a hackintosh does not imply having better specs, ... And having better specs, does not imply a hackintosh will boot up faster, than the supposetly slower mac hardware...
@hammer082 I was talking about osx on macintosh vs. windows on pc. And I even said that mac osx may boot a tiny bit faster, but it isn't any where near as good as windows and you'll forget the 2-6 seconds faster boot time when you actually go into the os anyway. Geez, you say I can't afford a mac but here you are on your hackintosh. And a a better spec machine should boot up faster then a lower spec machine if they're on the same software.
"but it isn't any where near as good as windows" well, that's your opinion, and you should state that because it sounds like a general statement, which wouldn't be true!
Also, there is no difference between modern Macintoshs and PCs. So winonmac = winonpc = mac osonpc = mac osonmac! There is no diff!
Oh and correction: I said you were jealous of people who can afford macs! Neither am I jealous to anyone with a mac, nor would I, if I was jealous on something, react by propagating BS!
@Whit3B0ySwagg Keyboards and mice are always very personal things, but I'm with you. I love Apple keyboards and mice, especially the Magic Mouse in Lion. It became more obvious why they made it when Lion showed up with the extra gestures. This guy looks like he may be the mechanical keyboard type of person lol.
@Moddingtipz Is not the same turning on a computer with many "BIG" features such as video card,hard drives etc. than a fucking laptop, is the same if i tell you my iphone boots up in 8 seconds,,than your shitty Vaio.
DO A RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING YOU FUCKINg douchebag. ñ.ñ
@Moddingtipz well my friend, remember, people sometimes say stupid things. and remember, this bonehead doesnt know that the setup that apple uses is slower then what a person can do. in other words, if you adjust things on the new imcas better then apples setups, it can boot faster. i know cause i have the new imacs and a wonderful vaio as well. just like if we set up windows 7 in a better way then how microsoft does, it can boot in insane speeds as well.
Respond to this video... ps, Like windows apple also has a lot of things that start up on the machine. The machine has to be optimized whether windows or Mac before it can boot at its best speeds. The default settings that, the machine whether windows or Mac is not good for showing off the machines pure speed
not true. the ati cards are still notebook cards lol. how would you get a standard power graphics card shrammed into this tiny space? there only can be sucking dick hardware
well, i think the booting is so fast b/c it doesn't use the same drives as a conventional pc does... moreover - the price. i'm sure that a computer with a ridiculously high price as the mac would boot as fast.
After using the magic mouse for 12 months now i can say that i love it. Its different from normal mouses thats for sure but once you get the handle this is a really easy to use mouse that you don't want to miss anymore.

1. That wasn't even that fast of a boot
2. I don't like the mouse either, but if your gunna criticize it, might as well try to hold it right not like your fucking 2.

Still i did get above 60 fps at 1920x1080 (tv screen) so i think that 50-60 fps is about what i would get at a mac equivalent screen. i can only speculate though.
cyberlord64 2 months ago
Overpriced. You can get a MUCH more powerful PC with that price.

Silly fanboys creating arguments again.....

if only SSDs weren't so damn expensive for the little space that they offer.
adlsfreund 3 months ago
@adlsfreund Dude think of it like this, a lamborghini or ferrari is small and doesn't have much space but really fast, a 7 seater car or a bus has lots of space but theyre speed gets destroyed by the ferrari or lamborghini. Some people prefer speed over space, some people prefer space over speed and most people are lucky enough to have both.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
"19 seconds boot time destroys windows 7 boot time" lol i think this nerd's a little bit too far inside the apple side. I think he should say an ssd destroys hdd boot time cos windows 7 on an ssd boots with the same if not faster time.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
hammer082 3 months ago
@hammer082 lol mac fanboy! Excluding bios settings, windows 7 boots up in around 5 secs, no im not making it up i just saw a video on youtube about it. With bios, depending on the motherboard can tak 5-30secs. My mobo takes 5 seconds because of customization so its a matter of choice there. And who cares even if you did boot up in 10 seconds, you just paid $2500+ for $700 worth of specs. Don't say apple computers are for rich men, cos they're for stupid men or apple fanboys.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
Of course you can make it faster.If you have nothing better to do!
hammer082 3 months ago
@hammer082 Okay, im no fanboy, if you could do more with macs like play games and if they werent so overpriced, i would be on their side. Also, ssds dont all have the same speed, some are slow some are fast. And i'm not saying windows 7 boots up faster than mac, I'm saying it matches or isnt too far off. And all you have to do to customise is press delete at bios logo and change how long you want it to take up. Doesn't take too long at all. What better things do you have to do? Play alien swarm?
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@hammer082 Just completely read your comment just then, if your using an ssd that is 2 years old, then of course its not gonna be very fast. Of course you would like macs better, your probably just a little boy with parents that have thick wallets and you probably have no computer knowledge what so ever, i guess mac osx probably would be better for you then i guess.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
You can read? I seriously doubt that.
Besides, I have 3 academic degrees in computer science, so get out of my sight, haterboy!
hammer082 3 months ago
@hammer082 Umm no i'm not really jealous of people who can afford macs, I could easily buy one myself if i wanted to, but they are crap and overpriced. And since it's a hackintosh, apple made computers would probably never boot as fast then. And who cares if mac osx takes <5 seconds to load, it was based of linux so of course it would be a little faster. And for someone saying that i can't afford a mac computer, your pretty poor playing stupid free to play games like Alien swarm.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
1. mac os x is based on unix, not linux.
4. get lost!
hammer082 3 months ago
@hammer082 So people buying something makes it not overpriced? If toilet paper was priced at $100 a roll because it had an apple logo on it and some people still bought that toilet paper, does that mean the toilet paper isn't overpriced? And of course a hackintosh would boot up fast, it would normally have better specs, I was talking about a mac, not a hackintosh when I was talking about boot times and you tried to prove me wrong with your hackintosh... And get lost? You replied to me.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
The market creates the prize!
hammer082 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
And having better specs, does not imply a hackintosh will boot up faster, than the supposetly slower mac hardware...
hammer082 3 months ago
@hammer082 I was talking about osx on macintosh vs. windows on pc. And I even said that mac osx may boot a tiny bit faster, but it isn't any where near as good as windows and you'll forget the 2-6 seconds faster boot time when you actually go into the os anyway. Geez, you say I can't afford a mac but here you are on your hackintosh. And a a better spec machine should boot up faster then a lower spec machine if they're on the same software.
cheeezstik 3 months ago
@cheeezstik
Neither am I jealous to anyone with a mac, nor would I, if I was jealous on something, react by propagating BS!
hammer082 3 months ago

LarryMenta1 3 months ago
@Moddingtipz well my friend, remember, people sometimes say stupid things. and remember, this bonehead doesnt know that the setup that apple uses is slower then what a person can do. in other words, if you adjust things on the new imcas better then apples setups, it can boot faster. i know cause i have the new imacs and a wonderful vaio as well. just like if we set up windows 7 in a better way then how microsoft does, it can boot in insane speeds as well.
nannynicky4life 2 months ago
Respond to this video... ps, Like windows apple also has a lot of things that start up on the machine. The machine has to be optimized whether windows or Mac before it can boot at its best speeds. The default settings that, the machine whether windows or Mac is not good for showing off the machines pure speed
