@raikahoken Because returning a big serve is tough. And I guess many pros would have been on the ball, but Del Potro is 2m high, so he has quite some problems to move. I think Nadal would have catched it.
And Fed only does this on clay, where the ball bounces lower than on hard courts.
@PSneakysound You are right. You have to play the surface and Fed does this often on clay to those guys that sit way beyond the baseline. The ball just dies on clay.
The way Djokovic is playing now I think will eclipse Federer at his best, especially if he beats nadal to win the french, something fed could never do even when nadal wasn't in his prime years
He is a magician. the most graceful and talented tennis player ever. Stats are meaningless really because all we have to do is watch him play to realise 10 mins of Federer is worth a career of most top 10 players.
@SourPancakes i think he said "it's like a" cause after it he says 2go-to play" and he's talking about how unsuall it is to see a dropshot after a serve etc etc
a lot of douchebags dont know how fast the ball is really flying at the returner. that serve should be like 95 MPH but it looks slow. if you are to watch them play in person you can tell how much effort they put into the shots that would just zoom past most everybody.

second serves are most always slicing/kicking - around 70mph. The first serves are most always ''flat'' serves - around 100mph. Roddick has his top flat serve clocked at 140mph
roddick's top speed is 155mph. and hard hitting servers tend to do slice/kick still with good accuracy exceeding 100mph. its probably 85-90 mph but looks slow because its on a clay court. balls travel slow on clay.
there's a greater range than that probably. it varies from player to player. and Roddick, dunno - according to the all-knowing Wikipedia, yeah - Roddick also hit an overhead at 180mph.
I would say they travel slower, rather than slow:) I think that a well hit, hard struck shot can actually travel with a decent amount of speed through a clay court, even though the clay slow´s down the speed of the ball.
First off, I never referred to Roddick's overhead, only his serve, and secondly, where did you find that his fastest overhead was 180 mph? Especially since his fastest serve is 155 mph?
Well, he hit that overhead at 188 mph against Federer during their Wimbledon 2004 final showdown. I think there is a video on YouTube. Try typing "Roddick's hardest overhead ever".
Yes, I remember seeing that shot live on TV, but how do you know that it was 188 mph? I'm not necessarily doubting you, just curious as to your evidence.

@tyruk It was a pretty bad second serve by pro standards. Spun into Fed's backhand, pretty slow, landed in middle of court, perfect height

You're about 20-30 mph below the actual speeds of male pros' 1st and 2nd serves. You're not even close.

depends which gender im talking about

Well, since this video contains male players, one would think you were referring to male serves. And you're way off about Roddick's serve as well
