  • Good blues !Thank's Harpsucker

  • Wow, einfach nur wow... great

  • Yep. That's the ONE and ONLY SUGAR BLUE!

  • Good grief. Muddy Waters wrote the song, but it's been performed and recorded by many blues artists. The ARTIST performing in this video IS SUGAR BLUE! Get his name straight! It's SUGAR BLUE! The comments here are mind blowing. He's my friend, blues brother and a fellow harmonica player. So if you don't know by now, learn it and remember it. SUGAR BLUE!

  • I always thought John Popper was lightyears ahead. I see I was wrong.

  • man i love that harmonica playing

  • John Myung on bass... hahah

  • Sugar Blue is definitely the heir apparent to the late Junior Wells. His skills are awesome.

  • SOLAMENTE A 22 PELOTUDOS NO LES PUEDE GUSTAR...

  • Ten holes,20 reeds an one living legend, a genious.

  • 4:28 - 4:40 -> Seriously, the lady right in front of the screen is almost sleeping... how come that bitch did not enjoy this music?? Can't sleep listening to this... All I can do is jam along with the song... damn...

  • @BeruCampos I duno how you cud see dat as the band takes my eye more than the background but maybe she is taken away by the music and some people close there eyes and leave the prensent when they get on the Blues train thats away of appreciation tooo so less of the critisum and word bitch each to there own live and let live .....x

  • Yeah baby

  • Blues forever!!!!!

  • idolooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • He's harmonica sound is fucking awesome

  • Sugar Blue can Blow

  • saw him @ Tipitina's years ago (around 1980?) with Willie Dixon and the Chicago Blues All-Stars; unbelievable show

  • OK OK at 4:28 look at the lady closest to the camera, how arent ALL eyes in the room on sugar blue by that point?

  • @CTHULHUCALL maybe she is blind

  • Saw this guy in Chicago last week!!!!!

    amaaaazing!

    from the TIME OUT MAG:

" We suspect that in some quarters, this blues veteran is still touted as the Guy Who Played Harmonica on "Miss You" by the Rolling Stones, but in blues circles he's known as the man who took Little Walter's innovations on that same instrument clear into the stratosphere.

It's safe to say that if you're looking for the magic place where Blues Traveler's John Popper got all his tricks and licks, this here is the source."

  • not a great singer (not a bad one either) but goodamn what about his harp...people talk about jason ricii but sugar blue is by far better

  • Saw Sugar back in '68. Still blowin' the Blues as well as ever!

  • He's performing tonight at Rosa's Blues Bar in Chicago on Armitage Avenue. Great place to check out if you're ever in the city. I was there once when Eric Clapton dropped in unexpectedly and joined in on stage after a few drinks. Sugar Blues show starts at 10 PM

  • Sugar Blue has got the funk, top class player.

  • D harp 2nd position

  • @tenbarsteam G harp 3rd position

  • Is that really 1pos. harp?

  • I'm a little confused; when was this concert and how is the singer/player on the video?

  • @Julez8210 check the description

  • @Harpsucker well that's the reason i am confused: it says live 1995 and later on the video shows "HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN", and under "Muddy Waters". Muddy Waters passed away in 1983... so either the date is wrong or the artist is not Muddy Waters; hence the question, who is the artist (which by the way is amazing, making me tend to think the date is wrong)

  • @Julez8210 what you talking about, are you crazy the song is called Hoochie Coochie Man, performed by Sugar Blue!!!!!!!

  • @Julez8210 The song was originaly recorded by Muddy. But that is Sugar, playing his tune. =)

  • @Julez8210 : The title of the video clearly states Sugar Blue, who is the artist. Muddy Waters wrote and composed this legendary song many decades before which is being played by Sugar blue in this 1995 music festival. Got it?

  • @vijayp63 Like so many great blues standards made famous by so many great bluesmen, the song was actually written by Willie Dixon.

  • @harpsucker - Just as a point of reference for you, if you recall the Rolling Stones song "Miss You" from 1978's "Some Girls" album, Sugar Blue did the harmonica solo in the middle of the song. Not his best work, but it's probably his widest exposure. If you ever get a chance to see him in concert, don't miss it.

Your jaw will drop and stay there the entire show.

  • @Julez8210 IT WAS IN 1995 IN BERN SWITZERLAND, I WAS THERE WITH THE GROUP RIGHT BEFORE SUGAR BLUE, WITH RAY BAILEY BIG FUN !!!

  • @Julez8210 you obviously don't know your blues so why you cruzin this section, please get educated before the next daft question you post.....

  • @Julez8210 The song was written by Muddy Waters and performed by sugar blue. That´s all.

  • @pitlow Actually it was written by Willie Dixon, for Muddy ;)

  • @Julez8210 I'm pretty sure that the song Hoochie Coochie Man was originally written by Willie Dixon and performed by Muddy Waters but this performance is by Sugar Blue. I hope that clears up any confusion.

  • @Julez8210 How is he ? Probably just fine.

  • is he using an electric harmonica or something?

  • @rawfflecakes He has a mic I think =)

  • Omg Jesus wtf Christ no Devil i don't know what i am saying !! So beatuifull !!!

  • LOVE when he goes soft at 4:15, so smooth

  • very melodic

  • how does he blow a rhythm with different notes while at the same time having one note ringout like at 5:19

  • Comment removed

  • @insanesanta278 If I'm not mistaking that is called tongue-blocking...

blocking several holes and unblocking those holes in the rythm of the song.

  • that's how you play the harmonica !!!

  • Sugar Blue is the Master, I first heard him on vinyl many yeas ago.

Never saw anything by him in music shops in England so I sent to the U.S.

I was told by a blues 'expert' that he had died of a drugs overdose over 20 years ago, which was a bit of an exageration. He's still alive an playing in Chigago.

  • I was told he died 20 years ago but it was an exageration!

I was talking to a guy who knows him and he is a great player, but has a drug problem so I'mm told. If you want speed playing check out Jason Ricci and Harper as well. He's a great harp and digerido player.

  • The black cat bone was gotten from throwing a black cat in boiling water at midnight--unfortunately.

  • The way they got the black cat bone was to throw a black cat into a pot of boiling water at midnight ,so I feel sorry for all the black cats that were boiled alive leaving the black cat bone remaining.
