@daftend i drove a few X1-9s back in the 80's, good fun little car - but, when I drove a MK1 Toyota MR2 I realised what it could have been if Fiat had built it properly.
@1390arosa Not properly. They're built just fine, but I have a 77 with a 1300 and I know what lack of power feels like! (Although the tiny four sound great up around 7500!) I also have an 88 Fiero Formula, and you can feel the extra 500 lbs trying to hustle it through an autocross course. Can't keep up with the FIAT through the cones!
Thanks for posting. I own one of the cars in the video.
One of the attractions of these cars is how cheap (and underappreciated) they are in the UK, especially when compared with inferior MG's etc. Yes they can be troublesome, but the smile/£ ratio more than makes up for it.
they were great fun to drive, but i am old enough to be annoyed at car makers who put no effort into building cars to last. fighting a constant battle with rust and dreading the next MOT is not fun any more. my cars - mini 1960, SD1 V8,Avenger, Viva, Panda, Escort Mk2, Fiat 1.6 twincam, VW Mk1 GTi, VW Mk2 Jetta GTi, Seat Arosa 1.4 16V.
i have a fiat x19 and im 16

@OneApartNoEscape only 400 registered to be driven on the road in the UK, so this was about 10%, number going down every day.

@1390arosa One runs, the other is a parts car. Unfortunately I'm pig-fat American and can't fit in either.

Well, we have three sitting in the barn most run and all need rust repair and paint. I love these little cars. A fun car for the money.

Great to see that there are still many enthusiastic people out there taking pride on these fantastic practical classics...
