The US ship agressively sailed into china's exclusive economic zone between Hainan island and Dongsha archipelago, with military purpose. A navy spy ship with civilian on board, it is still a SPY ship! US as the only thug country, who does not sigh the international law about Military Use in Exclusive Economic Zone, does not mean you can do whatever you want. If chinese navy want, sunk US ship is a legal option!

EEZ has no implications on purpose, type, or movement of any vessel. EEZ simply dictates the resource allocations to individual countries.

it's a sonar ship, which means it can trace to see where and how many subs china has in the water. so it's not just mapping the sea floor. i kinda doubt that was the mission, if they have not mapped the ocean floor there already by 2009, they are really behind...lol. Anyways.. this incident is pretty funny though. lol

A former collegemate of mine, Brendan, is gay and has gone to China several times. Thing is, if you are gay-and-out in China, you are immediately sent to a "mental hospital" (think Abu Ghraib) to be "cured" for 5 years with no appeal. Brendan says "I love the people and the country, but I *hate* the government".
