Lastly, you may want a police / fire radio scanner. You can use a portable solar system to recharge a car battery.

@dsarti1 You can run most of the things in your house on AC inverters. You'll need several car or truck batteries and a portable solar system. I purchased a 3-panel, 45 watt system for $179 online. That's good enough for my electronics and a few lights. A whole-house solar system would be better but they're not portable, and most of us couldn't afford it anyway. I also have a 4 kw generator but getting gasoline to run it just might be a problem lol.

There is new "liquid armor" called shear-thickening fluids, and have found the best chemicals to use are polyethylene glycol and silica. Dilute the mixture in ethanol and soak the Kevlar fabric. Once soaked, dry the Kevlar in a drying oven to evaporate the ethanol, and you will be left with treated Kevlar.

Chanel 4 is FRS only. Also FRS Ch1 462.5625 Mhz is the national call channel.
GMRS also has a nationwide emergency channel it is Ch 20 or 462.675 Mhz.
You may want to also inform folks that in a non SHTF world… GMRS requires a FCC license.

There is new "liquid armor" called shear-thickening fluids, and have found the best chemicals to use are polyethylene glycol and silica. Dilute the mixture in ethanol and soak the Kevlar fabric. Once soaked, dry the Kevlar in a drying oven to evaporate the ethanol, and you will be left with treated Kevlar.
All the Chemicals are on Ebay too make the super kevlar, you can protect against rifle rounds and spikes with soft armor now if you know how too do it.I dont know how much ethanol to use. wr

Concrete will not protect from an EMP. This is what a FARADAY cage is for. You can buy them in assorted sizes or even make them at home. But concrete will NOT do it.

In case of emergency, I won't be bothered to care whether my keying a microphone without a license is an affront to anyone's sense well-ordered and legal operation.

It doesnt matter how thick of concrete you have around you because an emp can travel through it. What you have to do is make sure that is it grounded out with no power sources. To put it simply it would be a like a surge coming through your wall. Sure a surge protecter will help but there is no guarentee. There is nothing that can truely prepare you for an EMP because the last time one went off it knock out the whole west coast. now imagine 3 of them going off. We will totally be screwed.

Honestly, if we see it coming, you can toss a few things into ziplocs in the toilet tank. Tap water is conductive enough all the way up into the subnanosecond pulse width regime (hundreds of megahertz CW), so rather than bugger around with tin foil and 3M spray adhesive, see if you can just stow some things under/in/surrounded by your water preps, or just put together some grounded ammo cans!
