The truth is that McCaskill and her side are less interested in finding a cure than they are in advancing their Leftist, pro-abortion agenda. Talent & Limbaugh are championing a more thoughtful and honest approach that better serves Fox's hopes for an eventual cure. Let me explain: (Cont..)
First of all, Fox suggested that a vote for McCaskill was good and compassionate while a vote for Talent was bad and compassionless. He falsely suggested that of the two of them, only McCaskill was interested in finding a cure Parkinson's disease. He even implied that Talent would "criminalize" anyone searching for a cure. The problem with this is that it ignores two very significant issues at the heart of the stem cell research debate.
Stem cell research has two significant issues that M. J. Fox ignored in his ad for Claire McCaskill:
A) Is it ethical? The particular method in question is called "embryonic" stem cell research, meaning that stem cells are harvested from the remains of a purposefully created and destroyed embryo. McCaskill would have tax payers pay for this research even though many believe it devalues human life...even though many believe the embryo is endowed with a right to live.
B) Is it effective? Researchers are always competing for grants and investments. In the free market, money naturally flows towards success and results. Embryonic stem cell research is losing out on funding simply because it has failed to impress investors. If the government forces tax payers to pay for a loser, then more effective research will likely be stifled or even killed. In other words, Fox's candidate wishes to build obstacles between him and his cure.
The issue with Limbaugh must be understood in its full context. M.J. Fox entered freely into the "marketplace of ideas". Not only that, he used his name and his position to influence the outcome of an election. That, in itself, was not wrong. But the manner in which he did it WAS wrong. First, he mischaracteized the issue. And second, he impugned the characters of Jim Talent and anyone who shared his values. So Rush's words were not an unprovoked attack on an innocent guy.
Rush's words were a defense of Talent and of himself. They were also a defense of the millions of people whom Fox had insulted. But more so, they were a defense of the truth. The effects of the disease WERE on display. They stacked emotions against Talent. They also shielded Fox and McCaskill from criticism. Anyone who would dare oppose them would, by definition, be a cold-hearted monster opposed to a cure for Parkinson's. Clearly, this gross slander inspired the video above.

First of all, Fox suggested that a vote for McCaskill was good and compassionate while a vote for Talent was bad and compassionless. He falsely suggested that of the two of them, only McCaskill was interested in finding a cure Parkinson's disease. He even implied that Talent would "criminalize" anyone searching for a cure. The problem with this is that it ignores two very significant issues at the heart of the stem cell research debate.

Stem cell research has two significant issues that M. J. Fox ignored in his ad for Claire McCaskill:
A) Is it ethical? The particular method in question is called "embryonic" stem cell research, meaning that stem cells are harvested from the remains of a purposefully created and destroyed embryo. McCaskill would have tax payers pay for this research even though many believe it devalues human life...even though many believe the embryo is endowed with a right to live.

B) Is it effective? Researchers are always competing for grants and investments. In the free market, money naturally flows towards success and results. Embryonic stem cell research is losing out on funding simply because it has failed to impress investors. If the government forces tax payers to pay for a loser, then more effective research will likely be stifled or even killed. In other words, Fox's candidate wishes to build obstacles between him and his cure.

The issue with Limbaugh must be understood in its full context. M.J. Fox entered freely into the "marketplace of ideas". Not only that, he used his name and his position to influence the outcome of an election. That, in itself, was not wrong. But the manner in which he did it WAS wrong. First, he mischaracteized the issue. And second, he impugned the characters of Jim Talent and anyone who shared his values. So Rush's words were not an unprovoked attack on an innocent guy.

Rush's words were a defense of Talent and of himself. They were also a defense of the millions of people whom Fox had insulted. But more so, they were a defense of the truth. The effects of the disease WERE on display. They stacked emotions against Talent. They also shielded Fox and McCaskill from criticism. Anyone who would dare oppose them would, by definition, be a cold-hearted monster opposed to a cure for Parkinson's. Clearly, this gross slander inspired the video above.

#1) I agree that you can't justify the cruelty involved in making fun of a person's disability. Since Rush never made fun of Fox or Parkinsons disease, there's no justification necessary. His point is valid and the accusations leveled against him are dishonest.
#2) Stem cell research has not saved any lives because it hasn't produced any meaningful results. In fact, it has impeded more promising research. The goal is not to save lives but to advance a purely anti-human agenda.

The draft ende in '73 making Rush Limbaugh 21-22 depending on what time of the year it occured. He was at college for 1 year pushing his age back to 19-20 so to dodge the draft he would have had maybe 1 year where he even could have been drafted.(Rush had an "inoperable pilonidal cyst" and was considered a "disqulifying condition." (or a 1-y condition later changed to a 4-F) )
