@cruciphile and what did they find? Brain can slow heart rate slightly. But the brain does not otherwise control the heart rate. That's why, for example, you can pull a beating heart out of a frog.
@StopTouchingMyFood Thats research done with normal people in their normal head space with normal stress, Yogis & monks are very different than the average person, check out the research.
@StopTouchingMyFood They may have the same physiology, and they choose to tap into their potential to alter it more than we do because of their discipline/focus/understanding. Though we have the same potential as a monk/yogi etc, they exhibit different heart rates, breathing, etc due to their state of mind. The point is You and I mostly change our heart rate because of getting upset or excited due to a way of thinking. They do it more by way of less thinking, therefore slowing down. Open mind?
@StopTouchingMyFood Thats a generalistic statement. Maybe our mind/brain/will is not FULLY in control but there is definitely SOME CONTROL.Your saying you've never gotten yourself upset about some story(that You call Your past)? Or you've never gotten nervous or excited about anticipating a date or a job interview? In either case I bet Your heart rate increased and it was because of YOUR interpretation, your mind, your brain. You have some control of that right now, monks have far more control.

@StopTouchingMyFood Yes nobody I've heard of can alter someone else's heart-rate quite like a scanner can, I totally agree!!Although I can get my partners heart rate going with a few words or gestures, or I can get her heart beating in another way by pissing her off!So even MY MIND can affect another's heart-rate, sometimes dramatically, unless she takes the control back.Animals on the otherhand don't seem to exhibit much choice or control over their heart, yet we do have some control, obvious.
Cameron Vale's some sort of Luke Skywalker byproduct, white clothes, dimpled chin, Love it!

I like how they put the booming drumbeats in there along with the music to simulate the heartbeats that Vale is probably hearing. :)

Who did the sculpture? I've heard that the man who plays Cameron Vale (Stephen Lack) is actually a sculptor. Are these sculptures his?

Monks have the same physiology as the rest of us, mental discipline notwithstanding.
