Funny people saying they were 'high' all the time when recording. If you watch The DVD Anthology Ringo clearly states 'We never took anything at the sessions. otherwise the music would be shit'. John accidently took a tab of LSD at one session

and was totally unable to function, and George Martin had to take him up on the roof

to recover. This is from the horse's mouths as it were. But still the myths go on....

Cant remember now, I would have to watch the DVD to tell you what he says. But he does explain it in the Anthology. Sorry, I can't be arsed to get it out and watch it at the moment. Check out the Anthology part covering Sgt Pepper and you will hear him explain.
