The reasons why Korea and Japan can be so consistent in tournaments like this along with Cuba is bc they rely on pitching and small-ball tactics which are more consistent and reliable than the power-hitting strategies of the US, DR, PR, etc.

@unak78 no. it's because KR, JP, and CB are in better shape than the other countries in march. a lot of players in the US,DR,PR teams are major leaguers who prep to be at 100% at the start of the mlb season. some of the best players don't even participate in the WBC. also, the KR,JP,CB players are certainly more motivated to make well. smallball > bigball is a misconception. the mlb players can consistently AND reliably hit/pitch a lot better than the national teams of korea/japan/cuba
