the song fits so well with the dialouge.. makes me feel like crying since No one understands Lilo! she's just a creative kid, but everyone thinks that's wierd!

Lilo is a freaking hero to me. She is so brave. Her parent are dead, her only friend is a self made doll, and she has ony her sister left. Still, she manages to enjoy something on her life, and having a good relationship to her sister. Unlike me. Props to her. :')
what i got from Lilo's story is, she is 'Toaster' and her only friends are rocks and [Pudge] fish. The princess promised her he could get special soap to he could have friends but she lives far away and he's sorry he smells bad. So basically the princess is Lilo's mother, and lilo is sorry she cant make friends herself, and she thinks her mom could help her, but she can't get that help she needs so shes stuck...?
If you pay close attention, Lilo's story is about the death of her parent's..."But she lives far away now"...meaning they're now in Heaven and she can't see them :( but it may have been confusing for younger viewers
@josephmlong Agreed. I don't see how this would confuse the audience concerning Nani's role in the family. The beginning could have just mentioned that they are sisters by having Bubbles say "you're her sister, not her mother" or have Lilo say, "I wish I had mom instead of you" ...or something. Something as simple as that could have saved this deep heartfelt scene from being scratched. I love this. Lilo basically explains her melancholic life and turns it into a story -very effective technique.

I`ve seen the Making of Lilo and Stitch on my DVD and you are right in thinking that this was taken out because the test audiences mistook Nani for Lilo`s mother, when I saw this deleted scene I found in quite facinating, with Lilo telling Nani the sad story of TOASTER the bear, it`s sad isn`t it that it had to be taken out.

If you watch "Leroy and Stitch", after Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakley have left, Lilo is sitting in her hammock with Scrump the doll; she tells a story almost similar to this one in that it explains what is going on in her life at the time.
The thing that gets me is, why did they scrap all those lovely lines? This could easily have been combined with the "broken family-sister/rabbit speech used in the completed film.
On the DVD they explained that they had to change the scene because in earlier screening, people thought Nani was Lilo's Mom so they needed to add in the sister deal to get the point across. But I agree with you. They should have tried to plug this scene in somehow. Lilo is so adorable! XD
