This kind of joke wasn't really Candid Camera's shtick. They did practical jokes where the people would get really freaked out by something strange happening, not so much jokes about how people are dumb and don't know what words mean. I guess it's possible, but It doesn't seem likely to me. The Man Show was the only place I'd ever seen it.

The woman who co-hosted the show stood outside a supermarket and asked women to sign a petition to end women's suffrage. After they signed it she explained what Womens suffrage was and the camera zoomed in on the persons expression when they realized that they signed a petition to end womens right to vote. I think Candid Camera was the original on this.

I attended UVM '91. This vid is embarrassing. These are college students?! One thing in their defense. Suffrage is so NOT an issue in 2009 that these women didn't -need- to know about it. That is, they are so far removed from that history, it doesn't affect them. That said, I must assume they don't do well in history courses or English/vocabulary.
