Border Patrol in San Clemente, CA Seized my car. My son borrowed my car to help a classmate move furniture last week. The car was stopped by BP and they tell me one of the passengers was found to be carrying a small amount of medical marijuana along with a CA medical marijuana registration card. They released all three men without charges, but seized my car.

They cite a law meant to deprive criminals of means to conduct criminal activities. No criminals here. How can they keep my car?

But I expect people would argue that if someone knows that their car was suspected to have been involved in a crime they would clean the evidence out of it, and, for example, to be safe, replace the tires in case of track identification and whatever, and that's why anti-entrepreneur laws would be passed to require paperwork and tire-print for any tires sold.

Once again, I know that stealing is simply immoral, and this vid describes how officers steal from citizens.

I'm a victim of civil forfeiture. What can I do? I'v hired lawyers and contacted the ACLU, I'v also got ahold of local representatives. I tried to get ahold of the people who run fear . org but I had no luck there I even went as far as sending my testimonial (available upon request) to the infowars website. please let me know of any avenues i should take. thank you for your time.

It's constitutional because the Supreme Court decided in Bennis v. Michigan that forfeiting the property of an innocent owner doesn't violate due process. I don't know how that works but that's what the man said. I'm currently writing my master's thesis on forfeiture and it seems that it just gets worse the more I learn.

If law enforcement takes something from you then its evidence to be used in court. If they don't charge you and there is no crime then they had no legal right to take it. This is stealing plain and simple. But who do you call when its the cops that are doing the stealing?

Civil forfeiture is absolutely unconstitutional, but so is most of what the federal government does every day. This can not be ended by suing, it can only be ended by making it an issue in EVERY election. When you go to a candidate's public forum, DEMAND that they commit to ending it. Then, DEMAND that they make good on that promise.

Good luck with that! The Supreme Court has been undermining the Fourth and Fifth Amendments ever since the decision that minors were not entitled to full Contitutional Rights in the 1980s IIRC.
