incredible my two fav. Yuki Kajiura and Yoko Kanno, addictive anime(must watch every episode, or at least one a day) Escaflowne jajajajajajajjaja i just am in love with this anime <3 <3 <3
Did anyone undertsand how the Escaflowne movie fit into the story? I understood the anime ALMOST perfectly, but when I tried watching the movie, I was so confused...
when i hear this song i think of somone flying a plane acidently into a strong storm cloud and geting a glimps of a sky city in the middle of the storm breavly befor thay make a crash landing
some of the most amazing animation ever just the polished dream like feel of the animation made this one of the most memorible animes ever to me i feel this great awe everytime i see this
i have never seen the end of the show till today. once there was a power cut. and then my TV stopped working. and the third time my computer crashed. Maybe i should go try watching it again. maybe its time i should.
@gr8Sweetfox in the movie, Hitomi has a vision of van when she's a little girl and she doesnt know who it is, but it is assumed that it is Van...because it's the only dude Hitomi has visions of! I love escaflowne the series, but the movie totally killed it for me -_-
I didn't see the movie but I kind of am thinking that it can't be Van, because he's got dark hair and differently shaped eyes. This dude seems like a crossover between Hitomi and Van, thus, it may be a vision of their son? :) I really don't know, maybe it's just a stupid assumption, but it kind of makes sense that it could be their future child....
@gr8Sweetfox haha trust me, it is Van. If you watched it you'd understand. All the characters in the movie look pretty damn different, and their personalities are somewhat different too, along with some different characters! In the movie, Van is very blood thirsty D:
@viv11014 I'm extremely wrong and im sorry. This picture is of Folken, I accidentally ran across a FAQ and they explained it thoroughly. Again I dont want to spoil the movie for you if you havent watched it, but it makes sense the way they reasoned it. This image is of a boy older than hitomi and has lighter hair. also int he movie, she has a closer connection to folken in the beginning, etc. etc.
Damn how long has it been since i saw this one? I think i was like 11 or something. Totally for got about this anime till a few days ago when i ran into it and really dont really remember everything except that i liked it a lot. Hope they do a remake with better animation.
this was my very first anime that make me LOVE and ADORE fantasy animanga and YOKO KANNO-SAMA's works!! *O*... oooh and that chorus~~ -go directly to lalaland-
@KitsuneDango Yes you should. It has something for action lovers, shoujo/romance fans, and epic fantasy fans. The plot and pacing is excellent (though it gets a little foggy near the end) and the characters are really fleshed out. A great story with sublime music from the wonderful Yoko Kanno.
That said, the noses will get to you at least one point in the series. Kudos if you can watch the whole series without thinking about the abnormally long noses.
@Stonezorz Kudos if you don't think about them even once while you are going through the series your first time. (which I doubt anyone has done this on their first run.)
I have gotten to the point where I don't think about them for most of the series and some scenes I do think about them but am not bothered.
But then there is always a scene every few episodes that makes me look about the noses and think "Damn, how do they not stab someone while kissing them?".
Without a doubt this is just one of the best anime-soundtracks ever! The mystic touch fits perfect to the extraordinary sotryline. The final of this song makes goosebumps all over my body!
@xcadetex04 it is a form of singing and chanting at the same time. gregorian chant is like the first "lyrical music". the "lyrics" are repetitive, as well as the melody and usually it's in acapella. it was a form of chant to preach in church or praise god, something like that. there was a lot of royalty and religious things going on back then.
It was my first anime too... well, the first that gave me serious goosebumps. When I was little, it was on TV but I didn't watch or understand the whole thing but it did stay in my memory somehow... and when I became older and got to see the whole series... oh my... one of the most intense experience of my life (I mean, when it comes to tvshows, videogames, animes, movies... Escaflowne is just one of those that blew me away and left me speechless *and made me buy the DVDs very quickly*).
@RadicalDreamer17 I can truly understand the way you feel. I also saw the anime when I was a kid, but wasn't able to watch the hole anime. As for now, as I have seen the full series, I can say that it just blew me away. I guess it was the first TV show to make me think about how vast the universe could be and at the same time how small we are. It made me think that there might be someone else in this universe, who just like me looks at the stars and thinks about how small we were.
oh yes most definately. production wise it was fantastic. i just thought it fell short on story. by the way, u interested in doing a comic series. lol
You need to watch the series..it's much more better. It's still my favourite anime, even after years. I were very disappointed, when I saw the movie...:(
now that I think about it, this was the first anime I ever watched. It came as a heavily edited version on Fox Kids in America. Escaflowne probably is the reason I love mecha shows since I was 8 when I watched it.
In the movie he is only portrayed as a man, however, in the series, you find out he is actually Allen's lost sister that Zaibach captured and did crazy ass experiments on. (That's why she's all psycho.)
There has been some speculation among people whom I've talked to so I can't exactly give you an answer, I was always under the assumption it was Van, but I think a young Folken may make a great deal of sense.
well.. yoko kanno is a very versatile composer. I'm a musician (still student) and to see someone blend so fluidly such different composition techniques is really remarkable. I admire her ability to use literally any style of music to create the atmosphere she wants.
Of course she isn't the only one, today more and more composers are "venturing" into exotic (non western) and old composition styles. Great upload.
Ah, sorry...I didn't exactly understand what you were saying by your first comment. xP I can't agree more, one of the reasons why I love her is her abaility to basically compose in any genre, and combine them to make what is basically musical excellence.
Thanks, there is a "take 2" version of this song too, unfortunately I somehow lost that with a few other songs some time ago.
Off topic, however good luck in music, as much as I love it I can only manage to screech out a few notes on a violin.
lyrics anyone?? If you give them to me I will love you forever!! 8D
