Yea, considering he was only 5'10" and 205 lbs. max and only missed one game in a 13 year career, you can't blame him for taking his fair share of pain killers. He didn't "love hard drugs" as much as he was just committed to his craft. By no means am I trying to justify his unquestioned drug/pain killer abuse, but one can only take so much until they either sit games out, or pop some pills. Hell, look at Brett Favre......

  • i bet he was all hopped up on dope, this man loved his hard drugs

  • The TD run against the Saints at 3:02 is absolutely incredible!

  • he would rock your shit, then help you up after the play. i love this guy

  • one of the best things about being a bears fan is that we had the best running back in the world

  • hes my hero im joining football cause of him

  • walter payton was great and i think you put together some good footage but i kinda had to hit the mute button :)

  • Walter Payton OP

  • Everytime i watch this videa just makes me miss my football season in highschool!!

  • I don't even know if this is thirty touchdowns. I stopped counting to enjoy the sweetness :)

  • were? ......is the greatest.

  • personaly im a vikings fan and walter payton is still the greatest football player, running back, and overall person R.I.P walter you are my hero

  • Walter is G.O.A.T (GREATEST OF ALL TIME)

  • WE DONT HAVE RUNNING BACKS LIKE THAT ANYMORE

  • @macrox77 I think many players don't play with Heart anymore.

  • Nicely edited piece. Well done!

  • best running back ever!!!!!

  • 1 packers fan is juelous

  • murphy killed him bad luck murphy

  • The greatest to ever ever play the game, bar none!! You will never be forgotten Sweetness, thanks for all those incredible seasons! R.I.P MY CHILDHOOD HERO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best ever at 3:03

  • was that ted hendricks at 2:16?

  • I am a bears fan. 3rd generation. Born in 1988 :(

I never got to see him play. But I know he is the greatest. Thank you for posting this video.

  • R.I.P Ohhhhhhh! Walter, how I miss ya brother! You were the best man! Inside and outside of the Field!

  • great video! that is what football is meant to be.... not what is going on right now.

  • dam good athlete!

  • Heaven now houses the greatest football player of all time, and his name is WALTER PAYTON!!! There will never be another player like Walter, what an honor it was to get to watch him every Sunday growing up in Chicago. R.I.P SWEETNESS, HOPE YOU'RE RUNNING OVER GUYS UP STAIRS, LIKE YOU DID HERE.

  • I bet his mom talks about him all the time. She's so damn proud of son! He's head and shoulders the greatest football player of all time. If you notice the in the 80's the bears only worked on improving the defense, because Walter carried the offense on his shoulders.

  • Barry Sanders could have had his record, but didn't feel right with it. Emmitt Smith the most overrated RB of all time gets it because nobody would talk about him otherwise.

  • @believeinbeer sanders reason for retiring is that he didnt see a reason to play anymore as well as respecting payton and emmit smith just played longer

  • He fought for every last yard. and the one thing he never got was a touchdown in the super bowl........terrible thing to hear

  • imma gonna be greater than him one day ...................i shouldnt say that but i am going to be as good as him or better

  • @TheDoublec123 the thing about payton was that as good of a player he was, he was an even better person. if you want to measure yourself against him, don't aim to be a better player, but rather to be as generous and upstanding as the man he was. the world would be a better place if we all modeled ourselves after him

  • @TheDoublec123 you shouldnt strive to be be as good as or better than someone else, you should strive to be the best you can be, in other words be the best you, because everyone is unique, im paraphrasing what i had heard payton say in a documentary once where he was saying i dont strive to be as good as other guys who had played before me, i want to be as good as i am able to be, i work to reach my full potential what ever it maybe.

  • The man knew no limitations -- NONE!!!!!!

  • i wished walter payton never died so he could finish his career and beat stupid emmit smith's all time record rushing yards

  • @S1cKSk1LLz09 he died after his career

  • lol it was hilarious how all the bears players near payton fell and he would be the only one running

  • The bset cut and run.

  • Best run at 3:08!

  • This is really great... 11 years ago today he died.

My favorite ones are the full speed ones... for as silly as it makes the defenders in slow motion, you can truly see the POWER at full speed.

  • I love those runs when he's about to get stopped just short of the goal line, but instead he attacks the defender and they both fall into the end zone.

It's a shame that all of the running backs today are either to stupid or to afraid to run like Walter.

  • he would have made an incredible rugby player

  • @stephengnelson fuck rugby

  • wow this is an awesome video..... love him R.I.P. Walter Payton

  • I'm not even a football fan and I love to watch Walter Payton perform his magic. I get a great satisfaction seeing a huge guy get two arms on him like he's going to take him down and then Payton just POPS the guy and he continues on his way. He was truly a master of his craft.

  • That was the way he played....he ROCKED YOU!

  • This dude was a beast. JSU ALUM

  • Great video

  • 1:22 awesome best one

  • If you need a lesson on being awesome....this is it.

  • Walter "sweetness" Payton the greatest
