  • I imported some drawings just now to try this out, and the frames selected to morph on the timeline aren't showing anything. Just blank on the canvas. The transformation box shows that the image is really small for some reason, but there's nothing actually there.

It says "Drawing Morphed Drawing" on the border above the timeline. Is it in the process of morphing it, or am I reading this the wrong way? Is it a dpi issue? They've been vectorized.

    This is driving me insane.

  • @MyNameIsBret You need to keep your morphs extremely simple, so if you've imported drawings and vectorised them, make sure they're very clean (no little errant dots/dirt) and all basic shapes. Bear in mind that any level of complexity could cause a variety of issues, ranging from easy-fixed to crash-the-program. I recommend going to the toonboom forum and asking for help if you're still stuck. Someone there might help you out by looking through your file to identify any problems.

  • Waw I always learn something new watching you :D this'll come in handy if I ever get back into Flash, I remember the old Macromedia Flash shape tweens, pain in the ass those, most of the time it was less bothersome to just FBF it.

  • Its cool how you identify the problems in the morphing

  • how do you give hints in flash? i'm not very fimiliar with it.

thanks for these videos! keep it up

  • @bleifingerT in Flash, you select the drawing, then Modify > Shape > Add Shape Hint. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + H

  • @chluaid thanks a lot, i tried it out and it works great.

  • i think inbetweener is the most boring job , or not?

  • @TheOriginalStriker

probably depends on what you personally like. if you love drawing details and stuff, it might be just right. everyone has different interests. i wouldnt do such a job though :D

  • @bleifingerT no i like to create a character and decide what he's doing...exactly what he's doing so i wanna draw the whole animation by myself but i think thats not the normaly situation :D but i'm animating in flash because im home there i know everything of it (the most :D) i know how to animate but i have to practise the praxis more

  • @TheOriginalStriker if you're looking for a career in animation and you start at a studio as a trainee, you'll be placed in the inbetweening department. I think the only way to avoid this is to go to college and become a skilled animator first, then apply to studios as an animator.

  • @chluaid ok first thanks for the answer i want to go to college because animation is my life ... im so sure that i want to do animation but im living in germany and i dont know how this type of college is called "bachelor of fine arts/bachelor of animation" or what???
