You will be surprised how many 80s pop stars started their musical careers playing in punk bands. A few are Kevin Rowland of Dexy's Midnight Runners who started out in punk band the Kiljoys, Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran who started out as a singer in a punk band aged 17, Belinda Carlise who started out as singer for punk band the Go Go's, Billy Idol who started out fronting Generation X, Fegal Sharky ex Undertones, even Boy George started as a punk rocker in 1977 before becoming a new romantic.
@ParagramTree Belinda Carlise was also in the early Germs. She never went on stage, and she left because of stage fright(which she obviously conquered) lol
I actually I know some of these kids. Which is kinda funny.
By the way all the people insulting street punks are haha um really fucking dumb considering you're probably doing it from your mommy's basement.
Also especially moronic considering this song is about uniting punk of the world. The only reason punk would be dead (which it fucking ain't I wouldn't be here, and neither would this video if it was) is because of douchebags like you guys tearing it down and creating division.
How come people only say punk is dead? How come no one says rock and roll is dead or mod is dead or heavy rock is dead, or soul is dead, or Jazz is dead or rythem and blues is dead, or country and western is dead or classical music is dead or Folk music is dead or Gothic music is dead, or acid house music is dead, or dance music is dead?
Because Punk is lesser of a commodity than say Gothic or Classical or Jazz. Punk died in 1979 because the real Punks all went D.I.Y which the early punks all pretended to aspire to, but the temptations of money blew that away. If people can make a living off Punk great if that's all they're into it for then go away , that's not punk and they are just a parasite.
Punk didn't die in 1979 in part of the world. Incidently musical forms such as Jazz and Swing were considered just as rebellious at the time they started back in the 1920s. And if any music is DIY music then it is Jazz which was started by poor blacks in the southern states of America who had to buy all their instruments second hand from the army. People who think punk is rebel music should read up on some history!
