hmm mine does this to but i have a gamcube game it is resident evil and it says disc error read the gamecub operation manul for information but there 2 disc of it the 2 plays but the frist one is not playing ? DX

like the disc cover is open, disc could not be read and an error has occured. happens unexpectally in games

Often, when this problem occurs, whenever the system continues to try to read the disc, it will eventually give up, and give you the "An error has occurred" message.

clean lens with q-tip and then keep trying game. eventually it will read. if not then clean lens a two or three times and let it dry. it will work. maybe the tuffest game system ever made.

i had that problem, the lense is not adjusted right. you need to get a flat head screw drives and turn the lense until it reads the game. I fixed it up like that and sold it for a whole 5$ :D and you could have sold it for 40$ if you just did that simple process. If you know luke who lives in japan on youtube he made a vid of the process. But anyway did yuo get any oney out of the system or did yuo concider it as worthless and throw it out?

hey, listen, I've got the solutions to your problem.

This probles is cause your game ( I sure) is another norma of your nintendo gamecube. for example: sure your GC is ntsc and your game is pal, well, playstation 2 can read another normas games, but in black and white (algo es algo = something is something).

Well, you have to do is to install de chip "xeno" in your gamecube, this chip make that your gamecube can read games backup ( juegos piratas o truchos) and unlock de norma (pal/ ntsc).

how long have you had your gamecube? im assuming its 6 or 7 years old. when a gamecube consle is 7 years it doesnt read the disk anymore. same thing happened to me and ive had it for 7 years :\ when i first found out it was dying i was playing sa2b and while i was in the Green Forest level my gc froze and made an "EEEEE" like sound and it stayed like that until i turned it off and then when i turned it back on it wouldnt read the disk D:

I had the same problem a trick to fixing it is get a 1 dollar game put it in the gamecube for test DONT USE A GOOD GAME put the game in and turn the gamecube on and off realy fast if done perfectly it will read the disk but if you have ever cleaned the INSIDE of it it had skrathed te laser that reads the game it is broke

I think you need to contact Nintendo about this problem. Or you can contact the store where you bought the GameCube. I never owned a GameCube but I hope this will help.

i tried doing this and got great results. i cleaned the laser with a dry q tip or swab in a circular motion sort of like a buffer, then sprayed some wd40 on a qtip and rubbed it on the part that is holding the laser inside on the right hand side. worked great and have no problem playing games.

@Zeethr : actually, it's not the laser you cleaned, it's just the lens..:). The laser is inside and it just goes through the lens that is why it reads the disk. It's what in my opinion.

that same thing is wrong with my old one. i called nintendo and they said the disk reader cracked in half so i bought a new disk reader and now all i have to do is replace it (that means going inside the gamecube)

Maybe the laser needs to be recalibrated. Or maybe it's just dust.

Same with me! While playing Mario Party 5 I got that same error. I have another black gamecube that can read disks, but when it gets to the welcome screen it says cannot read the disk, and it isn't scratched!!!!

@wyten dude check the laser, somtimes the laser needs to get recalibrated also look into the gc if the laser motor is stalled u need 2 clean the gears
