Check the marshallampsdotcom and go to the theater part of the JMD:1, see a video called --performance-- here's where they take the audio of this video. Notice he's using a white pedal besides a wah. I can't deny that when he engages the dists it sounds really good, but when using mine, it is not possible to achieve such tones. The FXs are good quality, the foot-switch is great. The distortions make me sad in this amp unless boosted or something.
Did anyone see the videos of Doug Aldrich playing the JMD:1?? He's got to be using he's signature pedal or some sort of boost. It sounds great there. My JMD102 snds like crap, the cleans are really great, but the dists suck. I would like to boost my signal to see if I can rescue the amp, cuz it is a really versatile one. Has any one tried a boost pedal with this amp?
@liedjaeger Its because of the Celestion G12MD70 that comes with the JMD102. I use my JMD100 with V30 and sounds pretty close to this demo. Take in consideration that Mic placement affects also the overall eq and tone, so it's nearly imposible that you would hear your amp as you would listen to it through mic.
@liedjaeger No, Doug Aldrich uses a signature high output bridge pickup in his Goldtop and a wah on that video. I'm almost certain of it cause with my Hamer Satq with EMG HZ4's plugged directly into the JMD100 I've never had problems to sound like Doug (tonewise haha). Your JMD102 sounds like crap because its OEM speakers sound like so. You don't need a booster, you need either a Vintage 30 or Greenbacks on your amp. Trust me, I've used several speakers with my JMD100, that's why I know.
This amp is a BARGAIN! I run it through a full stack(50 watt head).The best of Marshall all rolled into one! I also own the kerry king 100 watt head as well as a 50 watt vintage/modern. As far as Mesa? I have the 100 watt stilleto,and while it IS an excellent amp,it CAN,T get the tone of a Marshall,it's a different flavor!This head sells for as low as 899.00.
@Blueagle8u is the 50w jmd1 head thru a 4x12 cab loud enough to play with a band. I currently have the marshall mg 100 head and want to use the same cab but up grade tp the jmd1 50w head. any thoughts?
@denhamnz The 50 watt head will serve you well! Average volume settings for me range from 3 to 6,rarely need to go higher even with a packed club.Also keep in mind if you REALLY want to "Push" your head you can run it through a attentuater(I use the Dr. Z airbrake) it's pricey but the best on the market.Your really not going to need that though. Good luck! Hope this helped!

I have this amp, and trust me it's better than a JCM800 or JVM. This Marshall is perfect on a great stage with two Marshall JCM800A speakers :]

Most definitely getting this amp!

@NoahsGuitarChannel Don't, I have it and its not worth buying.
Ofc its a good amp but for that much money you can getting something better.
I'd get an Orange or Mesa Boogie if I were you, you'll regret it.
Hudzan 1 year ago
@Hudzan Orange makes GREAT amps but....The JMD 1 is MORE versatile tonewise.

@Blueagle8u Do you own a JMD:1?

@Hudzan would you rather record with a jcm 2000 tsl 100?
AustinFrestone 1 year ago
@AustinFrestone Definitely, its much better than the JMD:102
But my favorite guitar amp would be the Randall Warhead
