I dont know what country you are in, but in the uk you can download large amounts of data on virgin which use fiber optic cables which are pretty fast. I have downloaded music, movies and software from the app store

If you can add in design without sacrificing hardware or components than thats great. But the Macbook air fails to do that. For a cheaper price than the 15-inch MacBook Pro/2.0GHz Core i7, I can get a Dell XPS with a bigger hard drive, more memory, blu-ray, and much more. Apple only cares about looks. Go look at the Mac Pro.

No, it's a matter of opinion over which OS is BETTER. I know Apple tailors their OS to the hardware they use. But that doesn't have any relevance in this debate because it doesn't prove anything. They still care more about the look of the System. The fact that the OS is built around the components used doesn't negate the fact that the build is still terrible for the price they are asking.
Riser cards are used so the components used can fit a certain form factor. So it LOOKS pretty.

Hmm ja so einfach würde ich mir das nicht machen. Das Design ist bewährt. Die Kühlung bei dem Laptop übernimmt ein Kupferkühler und ein kleiner Lüfter. Selbst ein kleiner Kühler kann durch seine Streben eine hohe Oberfläche haben, die dann im Luftstrom zum Wärmeaustausch genutzt wird. Das Gehäuse der X30x Serie ist aus ABS-Kunststoff die Oberfläche wurde gummiert. Beim MBA ist es zwar aus Alu, nur funktioniert die Wärmeabgabe darüber bei weitem nicht so gut wie die Werbung das sagt.

Funny ad. But, really, when was the last time you used a CDROM? Or more than 2 USB devices? The Thinkpad doesn't have a floppy drive, a DAT drive, or an 8-track audio cassette slot. Why not? Because they're outdated. Like most of the other stuff "built in" to the machine.
@kbroadey But we still use CD, DVD, Blu-Ray drives today. What happens when your ultraportable computer's operating system breaks? And you need to install a whole new one? Off to getting those install CDs, or do a TON of trial, and error with some Tftp server to net-boot your laptop. Or just send it in for a month of service. I use my CD drive Often, though not as often as I'd like with a lack of spare writable CDs laying around, but that's alright. ^_^

At least Lenovo was smarter than Apple in that aspect, since lenovo makes business machines. Have you ever seen a macbook air (or any Apple laptop) in a police cruiser, storm chase vehicle or as a driver's log book in a semi-truck? I know I haven't, because the Air can't survive at all in extreme conditions (unlike the ThinkPad).

@microsf121 Never said anything about the price, I agree that it's overpriced but i can't see why you brought that up. And yes i have looked inside a Mac Pro, but I'm guessing you haven't. And I'm sorry the "Excellent hardware" part wasn't supposed to be connected to the cost. However I was trying to show that Apple do care about performance since they do use the I7 architecture. But I noticed that you haven't said anything about my main point, the "OS" part :-)

I'm not talking about the OS because that all comes down to opinion. I am talking strictly about hardware and the "build" of Apple's computers. Functionality is second to looks. @microsf121 If Apple builds their OS after what components they will be usingis not an opinion it's a fact. The Mac has Riser cards in them since it allows people to put in expansion cards vertically. Google "inside a Mac pro" and you'll see what I'm talking about. ( About the cooling system)

No, it's a matter of opinion over which OS is BETTER. I know Apple tailors their OS to the hardware they use. But that doesn't have any relevance in this debate because it doesn't prove anything. They still care more about the look of the System. The fact that the OS is built around the components used doesn't negate the fact that the build is still terrible for the price they are asking.
Riser cards are used so the components used can fit a certain form factor. So it LOOKS pretty.

@microsf121 Never said that OS X is any better, I have a "PC" desktop at home for gaming and home use and a Macbook in school, I use them for different things since I they're made for different things. The reason I brought up "Apple tailors their OS.." is because they make it for a small range of hardware and therefore they can optimize the OS for the specific hardware and by that they can get more out of the hardware. I wanted to counter your statement that the Apple only cares about looks :- )

Das Design ist aus den 90ern von IBM übernommen, es sind viele Einzelteile verbaut jedoch kann man diese auch ALLE nachbestellen und selber auswechseln wenn es denn sein muss. In jeglicher Beziehung besser als das Macbook Air, wenngleich man natürlich auf Windows bzw. Linux setzen muss.

Notebooks die aus Plastik sind müssen immer aktiv gekühlt werden, sprich mit Ventilatoren, Diese drehen sich und verschleißen auch, zudem benötigen Sie Energie (auf die Jahre hochgerechnet auch ne Summe).
Warum ist es dann nicht praktischer einfach das Notebookgehäuse zur Kühlung zu verwenden? -> siehe Apple.
Ein Teil für das Gehäuse und fertig! Warum kompliziert wenns einfach geht. Hatte auch jahrelang einen "PC" pfui

Hmm ja so einfach würde ich mir das nicht machen. Das Design ist bewährt. Die Kühlung bei dem Laptop übernimmt ein Kupferkühler und ein kleiner Lüfter. Selbst ein kleiner Kühler kann durch seine Streben eine hohe Oberfläche haben, die dann im Luftstrom zum Wärmeaustausch genutzt wird. Das Gehäuse der X30x Serie ist aus ABS-Kunststoff die Oberfläche wurde gummiert. Beim MBA ist es zwar aus Alu, nur funktioniert die Wärmeabgabe darüber bei weitem nicht so gut wie die Werbung das sagt.

Funny ad. But, really, when was the last time you used a CDROM? Or more than 2 USB devices? The Thinkpad doesn't have a floppy drive, a DAT drive, or an 8-track audio cassette slot. Why not? Because they're outdated. Like most of the other stuff "built in" to the machine.

@kbroadey But we still use CD, DVD, Blu-Ray drives today. What happens when your ultraportable computer's operating system breaks? And you need to install a whole new one? Off to getting those install CDs, or do a TON of trial, and error with some Tftp server to net-boot your laptop. Or just send it in for a month of service. I use my CD drive Often, though not as often as I'd like with a lack of spare writable CDs laying around, but that's alright. ^_^

At least Lenovo was smarter than Apple in that aspect, since lenovo makes business machines. Have you ever seen a macbook air (or any Apple laptop) in a police cruiser, storm chase vehicle or as a driver's log book in a semi-truck? I know I haven't, because the Air can't survive at all in extreme conditions (unlike the ThinkPad).
