Further, it in no way costs more (for the average chimney) to buy the tools yourself than to have a pro do it. I needed 4 rods at about $10 each. $20 for a good brush. That's a little over 1/2 of what it cost me to have it professionally done. Anyone can sweep with a little smart research and the right tools (which will show you your limitations and when to call a pro), Anyone saying different wants you to pay him to do it; however a pro insepection doesn't hurt.
Youtube recommends that videos not be misleadingly tagged for user friendliness. This video is entitled "How to Clean a Fireplace : Cleaning a Chimney".This video has NOTHING to do with the title. It's frustrating, time wasting, and misleading for "experts" to post videos that promise "how to" in the title and say "call a pro" and very little else. Please stop wasting our time...and yours.
You know? Your'e just like my lawyer. You told what's already known, took a long time to dribble it out and you'd probably charge mega bucks for this pice of shit information. This clip should have been called 'How to waste your time'......I agree with every comment put here about this crap vid...
A brush, extension rods, and maybe a scout brush are all you need to sweep your own chimney. It's not rocket science. The equipment needed may cost about $150-$200 which in some cases is the cost of one cleaning. Hire a sweep and watch him do the job. Afterward, you'll have all the trainging you need to do the job yourself for as long as you own the home. Questions? Contact me.

This is rubbish. You dont have to get onto the roof to sweep the chimney. Just a couple of brushes, poles and an old sheet is all you need.

This explained nothing.
The title should be, "How to pick up a phone and call someone to do the job for you."
