My animals still despawn in the newest version. I have to cheat to get them back, or else I'd be out of food.

@KornwallisTV That's when they despawn. I had a bunch of cows, pigs and sheep in a pen closed off from the outside world. I went out exploring and when I got back home the pens where empty. My minecraft crash a lot though, so that might be the problem.
