I can't help but sing to this whenever I see it on tv! I'm so proud that our state actually made a song rather than try to convince people with scenery. Why do we feel the need to advertise a state? It just seems weird to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm Minnesotan, but now I live in post-communist country where they used to have adverts for cabbage... This doesn't seem that different for me.

Why would they show this advert to Minnesotans? What are they trying to sell?

@velnerj They show the ad to Minnesotans for the same reason they show it to non-Minnesotans: Explore Minnesota! I didn't think it was that difficult a concept to grasp. When a Minnesotan discovers that instead of going out of state to nice vacation spots, they stay in state, they spend their money here.

The only inaccuracy in this ad: rather than the family on bicycles, it should have been a bunch of hipsters with lumberjack beards and/or ironic mustaches wearing flannel shirts and skinny jeans riding fixed-gear bicycles while steering with one hand and drinking tall boys of either PBR or Grain Belt. And for the person who said the accents were over done, what accent? :D Snow is a fact of life in Minnesota, and while most of us who just lived through the fifth snowiest winter here are glad to see it gone, other folks actually think winter is fun. Go figure! This is one of the best state commercials I've ever seen, and I have watched it a few times now. Just a joyful celebration of Minnesota culture and fun.

Good but two criticisms: the accent is overdone. I don't know people in MN who talk with that accent unless they are older. Also, why include the snow scene, after this last winter all we want to do is forget about winter. Why advertise that?! And that little scene of light rail is deceptive, it's only in one part of the state and the rest of us don't have it. It's an ad that mostly advertises the Minneapolis area.
