good job girls, It is truly hard to be infront of an audience knowing that there are people outhere who have seen the musicals and expect perfection. Yet I think that you guys did great ^_^ from a sailor moon to another when you are on stage remember that usagi is always hyper happy and her smile must always show!!
I was trying but i made the mistake of not breaking in those shoes before the con. So i was walking for like 2 days in those heels before dancing. Thank you for the advice. Next time I will try to smile more. It's just really hard when your feet hurt and your trying to hide it. The next one will be better.
I'm not sure what shoes you were using, but you could always try dance shoes. I have a very hard time wearing heels over 2" for more than a few hours let alone 2 days due to an accident I had when I was younger.
The dance shoes I have are actually quite comfortable. Expensive, yes, but worth every penny.
You would actually have to make a boot cover to go over the dance shoes. If you buy nude dance shoes and shoe spray paint you can make them resemble Sailor Moon's boots quite easily and more comfortably.
Really? We loved being up there and I was smiling because I was having a blast and I was dancing with my all. Wait, does stage right mean the one on right from the audience's perspective or not? If so, I was Sailor Mars and I knew the dance. We just apparently had learned the dance but it's been done different ways, so we each had learned different moves we then had to work together.
Stage right is the actor's right. House right would be the audience's right. Given how much people mix the two up though, I still don't know who the OP is actually talking to.
That said, webcams. Framerate will be bloody awful with motion, but then you'd know roughly what moves each of you are doing, even if you can't meet in person.
Or just send videos to each other. That's what a lot of Myu Tribute groups do. You record yourself doing the dance and then email it to each other. If it's too large for email, upload it to MegaUpload or another free upload site and then send them the link.
We are going to try that and now that I'm on summer break we are going to try to get together a few days. any suggestions on what we do on those days too to better ourselfs for the next song(be sides pratice)?
Practice, watch videos for inspiration, make sure your cosplay styles match and make appropriate improvements. And add stretching to your personal practice regiment. More flexibility will go a long way to making performances easier and adding movements to your repertoire.
Another idea is to practice while wearing your costume. Even just parts of it. That way when you perform you know how your costume will respond to your movements and you'll be used to it.
Just as Rakuen said watch videos for inspiration, you can watch other people perform the same dance and see about getting tips from them on how to learn the dance. The best thing you can do is to make sure to break down the dance into smaller parts and perfect each part before adding/learning another part.
I could freestyle and make up something on the spot that looks far superior than the eye gouging experience I just had. What the fuck. I think you could make puppets out of cottage cheese look more coordinated and in shape than what I just saw.
I can't even say you get an A for effort. You deserve the two F's in it.
I loved doing it. I was having a blast being up there and was smiling the entire time. I don't know why it doesn't translate to you, but I can see the huge smile on my face.
Hmmm, it won't let me delete the first few comments I made, but I tried to. Once again, apologies for my temper. We love the STS girls by the way and hope achieve even a third of their success and fantastic reputation. We love you girls!
I removed my comments because I regret letting my temper get the best of me and taint my comments with anger. Thanks for uploading the video, Rakuen. It's nice to see it from the audience perspective because you can't see what you're doing while you're doing it. Our next dance will be better, this trial run was... well it happened and we've learned from our mistakes and we'll make the next one ten times better.
Right. Sorry god gave me an opinion. It is *honestly* the worst La Soldier I have seen. I didn't say you were the worst in the world.
If you want constructive criticism it's going to be harsh and up front. If they dance around the issue and it sounds nice and makes you feel good about yourself then it's not going to help you.
For all the haters out there, we were doing this for fun! We may not be the best dancers but we weren't doing this to show off our dancing, we were doing it for FUN! If you want to give nasty comments, how about you do it yourself, make your own costume, practice a dance, go to a con, and perform it in front of a large group of people and THEN comment. Don't just sit at your computer and type rude comments.
Yes, our fuku's aren't myu style, we were basing them off the anime, not myu.
Yeah, if you had made your own fuku's then I'd given you major props for trying. But you bought them off of Ebay. Don't say you didn't I've seen hundreds of girls wear those exacts fuku's at cons before.
And hon, this is the internet. No matter how good or bad you are, someone will always flame you. You just have to swallow it and ignore it.
I didn't say I made it. I'm just saying that a lot of people do and to be rude to them online is just cheap. And don't call me "hon". I know people are going to flame me. I was just answering back to explain myself when I shouldn't relaly have to. If you didn't like the skit, you could have just shut up and kept it to yourself. But instead, you had to type a rude comment.
Yes my comment was totally rude. Sorry I tell it like it is. If you honestly did it for fun, you wouldn't even bother defended yourself. It's sad that you can't even take the slightest criticism. Honestly, you have no right cosplaying if you can't take flamers or criticism.
Maybe when you mature a little bit, you can get advice from a well known cosplayer like 4ng31 or PockyPrincess Darcy.
Next time, don't do a dance spur of the moment. Dancing requires hours of practice and if you're not dedicated, it's not going to work.
Make your own fuku. Sure it may not look spectacular, but you'll feel more proud knowing you poured your heart into making it. I hate people who don't make their own cosplays. It says, I'm too lazy to figure out how to sew myself so I'm going to buy a cheap one off of Ebay and claim I made it. Not saying you did, but you wouldn't believe how many actually do.
Ok first off I did make my own damn fuku. Wether you chose to accept that is your own problem and when your dad is out of work it is kinda hard to make a myu costume when your funds are limited
Cosplay is an expensive hobby. There's no doubt about that. But if you truly honestly expect other cosplayer to feel sorry for you then you're just kidding yourself. Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain. I've been in tight spots like that before and I know first hand how addicting cosplay is. If you want to continue to cosplay it's going to require a job or some source of income. Yeah yeah, I'm sure it's something you already know, but I'm going to say it for anyone out there reading this.
I don't expect people to feel sorry for me. Just where i live it is REALLY hard to get a job. and when i was little i had strokes and yes i embrace my differentness but it also makes the right side of my body weaker.
I'm going to jump in here for a moment. A negative critique does not have invalidated the points made because of it. The politeness or harshness has nothing to do with the observations made. I would encourage you to learn how to cut through the remarks made and latch onto suggestions. Doing so will make you a better person all around, because I will tell you right now, people aren't going to care enough to humor you out in the world.
Again, if it had any bit of constructive criticism in the original observation, I would have latched onto it and worked with it. But it was only someone saying they thought it was crap which doesn't help. Saying something is bad isn't constructive. Saying what parts were bad and how to fix them does. Which he/she didn't do.
I don't care to be humored in the world. I care about being respected for who I am. I can take negative criticism as long as it is constructive.
You don't even remember my original post. I said change your name, get some tiaras, and just try harder next time. If you want to do another dance spend a whole day practicing together to get the kinks worked out.
I've been giving you criticism, but you just keep ignoring it which means, NO you can't take criticism.
Well I'm sorry that I don't care for people who purposely hurt others. People like that don't deserve to be heard. And I can rule out anyone's criticism if I want to, no one can tell me what I can and can't do. I've all ready said that I appreciate your criticism and that I realize that some of things she said were true, but I don't have to listen to people who go around bad mouthing others for their own pleasure, no one has to.
If you want to go deal with people bad mouthing for their own pleasure go to 4chan.
You don't know what true hate or flame is like until you've been flamed on 4chan so shut the hell up about my criticism. Compared to 4chan, what I've said is sugar coated. Don't believe me, check out /cgl/ and THEN tell me I'm wrong.
Who cares if it isn't as bad as 4chan. Some say Osama isn't as bad as Hitler, but does that make what Osama has done any better? No. And no, it was not sugar coated.
But she has given you valid criticism. Your name misrepresents your intent, change it. You haven't practiced enough, put more work into the skit next time. I'll give you one on top of that, try and come up with more interesting choreography. Your song is overused whether you know it or not, pick a new one out. Your fukus could definitely use some work before the next performance. And you are doing it for the wrong reason, you should be up there for the audience, not yourself. Exeunt.
See criticism like yours i can accept. And yes i understand the fuku's could use work but i made do with what i could at the time. And we were up there for the audience and to have fun. Besides it was our first time dancing and I promise our next dance will be a whole lot better. And we had 5 weeks to learn a dance so we picked that and yes we understand that one is overly used.
We weren't trying to be like Salad Time Soldiers. and no, we didn't have more practice time than them. We found out about the con a few months before hand and thought it'd be fun and challenging to get up on stage and perform. I will only take your comment seriously when I see you try and perform on stage in front of people and not just watch others do it and say nasty things.
Well, we're not dancers. We didn't do this to show off dancing. We wanted to have fun and we did. There have been no La Soldier skits from where we are so it wasn't boring for the audience. And we didn't do it for the audience anyway, we did it for ourselves and we had a blast.
