Yes, probably. Thais, even though most of them are around 50-65 kg, they still sparr with 18 oz or 20 z. If you want to hurt somebody, do it during the fight, not training.

To all of you who think Saenchai is showing off and purposely humiliating his opponents, you don't know what you're talking about. When I spar with my trainer, who is way more experienced than me, he does the same things, and he has trained with Saenchai before. It's still a challenge to fight him but I have fun at the same time. Same with the guys in this video, they're laughing along too, even though they know he can kick their asses if he wants to.

Hmnnn...wonder how Sanchai would do if these bigger opponents were going full force. My guess is that if anyone could manage to survive against a significantly larger opponent, they might do so using some of these techniques. The jumping moves he does are more powerful than regular kicks.

Also it's the thai way to spar judging from other sparring vids of his. Don't forget that he's the instructor in the ring so he should give the pace and keep it light. Hey Harlsmanson, i don't know how you would define a "pretender" but if being Lumpini champion 3 times at 3 different weights (the first time at 15) being Fighter of the year in 1999 and usually fightin lighter than his opponents is being a pretender then yep he must be the Grandmaster of Pretenders. Yea, It's K1 rules. I think Van Damme is just in it for publicity. He's filming a new show called The Tower that will include some of his training for the fight. Personally, I think it's suicide. Van Damme's got skills, but you don't walk away from the sport for 10 + years, and come back to fight an all time great like Somrak for your first fight back. Hopefully Somrak doesn't kill him.
