@007Pogo yeah dude, morgan agren said they were.. and the drummer for soilwork was apparently suppose to do some drum tracks but i dont know if he is anymore, but i cant wait :D, how long has it been... like, 13 years or something? haha....
Morgan was asked to be on the Blotted Science album, fucking sucks that he turnt it down, apparently he was busy, still charlie zeleny is pretty fucking awesome. Would love to hear a Morgan and Jarzombek collaboration!
My mistake, after further review i did hear that part. I was just memorized by the sound and was in some other dimension lol. Sometimes I wish all music was this good and artistic... but... then we wouldn't know who has real talent and whose just trying to get rich and famous.
What is that song through 0:21- 1:21. I Have Sol Niger Within and never heard that part on there. If Someone knows can you help your fellow music lover :)
lol FredrikThordendal ... Awesome tones, and progressions, and what a multi-talented artist! Anyone have any tones like Freddy on Guitar RIG 3 XP or Vista? I will trade. Great upload!
mine too. i listen to the album least once a day for 3-4 months, know the whole lyrics word by word (tho i still can't figure the meaning fully). Fredrik is just hundred miles ahead the most metalheads today. like a next step in the evolution of thinking.
Omg what a pleasent surprise.. have'nt seen this before :D .... I spoke to morgan ågren a couple of days ago on a mats/morgan gig... i got his and mats autograph.. his voice is so pedagogigal, you become happy when he speaks =)
Morgan can play all kind of styles, i've seen them both play same genres and morgan has more feel to it. But as said they both are extremely talented drummers nonetheless
I would have to say Tomas is more technical. His playing is very straightforward and very mathmatical. Morgan is more of a light tapper and has a jazzier style. He plays is jazz bands so...
@chepe371 I don't think you intend any aspersion; I think I know what you mean about Tomas. But for those who want to take this as a reason to latch onto Haake-thrashing, remember that except for 33, Meshuggah's work tends to lend itself to solid, groove-based drumming. 33 might have received some nice treatment from Agren-style counterplay, of which I feel Haake totally capable, but they programmed those drums, and just imagine the excruciating difficulty of programming drum beats like Agren's.
@DeadAmaranth you got it, the robozombie thing was a compliment to Haake, he is very articulate and has his own sort of clockwork fluidity, but hearing Morgan play with Fredrik, its 2 jazzmen congregating under the pretenses of metal. Genius. It works for Special Defects, wouldnt work with Meshuggah, where the playing is more hard edged.
does anyone how to count "bouncing in a bottomless" my guess is the guitar riff is in 9...but wtf with the drums.. message me if you know how to count that groove?????????????????????????????????
Actually, Fredrik is playing the hi-hat and it looks like he is off a little and so when Morgan hits it, it's either open or closed when it should be closed or open and so he plays the hi-hat at half speed.
Something like that. That beat is not hard for Morgan to play!
I love how silly all these guys are when they aren't busy playing, like that Meshuggah tour video where they show all sorts of footage of them screwing around in their down-time
morgan and fredrik actually go back quite a bit...their parents knew each other well before they were musicians etc etc. theres something in the air in umea....
One other thing: Im not going to trash talk you (its not my intension, I promise, who am I to do so?) but after Ive seen your videos I can say this: you´ve got the shredwork (sweep and fast picking) down quite well, but I get the impression that you wouldnt navigate through chord sequences (even "easy" ones)with a convincing melodic description of the harmony beneath. I saw your own vids of you playing and you play nicely, but please trust us when we say Fredrik's solos are sweet and would make baby Jesus happy.
It sounds crap to you because it is very dissonant. He is an unbelievable genius who draws on modal jazz for his guitar improvisations. Its not like some retard like Joe fucking Satriani! Tedious unimaginative dross. And by the way I'm a classically trained pianist playing at diploma level so don't use the musical superiority thing. I compare Fredrik Thordendal's solo work with that of John Coltrane on the sax. Dissonant at times yes, but always imaginative.
It's not about the notes. It's about the feel. Besides he's already a very accomplished soloist anyways, he's just not one to show off. I suppose you didn't get the copy with the bonus track 'Missing Time'.
