It's not the same thing. Farm subsidies help keep critical commodities low and allow farmers to continue farming. Some years, farmers lose hundreds of thousands of dollars due to something unpredictable like rain timing or pestilence.

It's not the same thing. Farm subsidies help keep critical commodities low and allow farmers to continue farming. Some years, farmers lose hundreds of thousands of dollars due to something unpredictable like rain timing or pestilence.

Yes, welfare is one of those programs that needs to be ELIMINATED, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER GOVERNMENT SCAMS. I would start with all of the WOMEN who get pregnant on purpose to get on the government dole (and/ or to trap the man). That's right, you get pregnant it is on your own dime----no wic, welfare, food stamps, well baby care, medicaid or ANY OF THOSE GOVERNMENT GOODIES. I addressed a specific problem, women getting on the government dole because they pump them out like tasty cakes. That is where I would start. Have a kid on your own dime. These reforms are generally recognized as an across the board success, even if there was loopholes that made this crackdown less effective. Relax Zoning laws in rural areas..

I think if I got my hands on a few thousand acres of good farm able build able land with plenty of trees and had some felons do work on it as community service I could end poverty unemployment and create programs to give inmates who wanna work some decent money..
If you know how to plan things out you can easily solve a lot of problems in society you just have to have the right frame of mind when it comes to how to deal with them......

They attack "entitlement programs" yet only ones for the poor that upset the badly educatged middle classes.
I might actually support them if there first measures at deregulation and "Free markets" were:
1)Freedom of contract - i.e gays can actually enter a marriage contract
2)Remove subsidies for the un-needy FIRST (farm subs, corp taxes...)
3)Removal of cooperation rights, so they default to individual rights.

amen! but in america we are all mostly transplants, removed from family, so we do not have the natural order of family, extended family, clan, tribe. we have in short, no real social safety nets built in for the average person when our personal economy goes wrong. so we HAVE to use a welfare system to help the needy survive til they find their way. Until the natural familial order gets established and people take care of their extended family and clan.

The public option isn't a monopoly, its a tool used to keep insurance companies from continuing to fix prices and raise their rates in unison. They do that because the free market doesn't work. What regulation caused the insurance companies to price fix? The problems we are facing are caused by the banks using citizens money to make their bets on wall street, that has nothing to do with regulation. It has to do with LACK of regulation. I defy you to prove that it was regulation that caused this.
